Hi there,

After taking over a Hipath3500 no longer serviced by our telecomms company at work, I went to learn how to very basically maintain the system.

I now want to add a new POT line to one of the free slots on an extension card.

Once I wire up the blue, and blue striped pair into an extension slot...should the HiPath immediately recognise the line...or do I need to do something extra after the wiring process?

Many Thanks.

Connect up an analog telephone to see if you get dial tone when you lift the handset.
If yes then all ok
If not then you need to add in an extension to that physical port

Thankyou for the reply.

My first step was to physically wire an extension into the card on the HiPath and then check the line after I'd done that. My question was more, is there any other things I need to do after doing the physical wiring?

Many Thanks.

Do you have dial tone on the end of the wire -
If yes then all is OK

If not then YES you will have more to do

You should be able to get dial tone in POT, either with the extension number configured or not, if you are not getting the dial tone, probably there is an issue in this specific port of this card (best scenario).
