This is occuring on several of my XP Pro Laptops that have wireless NICs. When on the domain, we have scripts that create network drives. When the laptops are booted off the domain, if the wireless NIC is active, the computers hang right after logon, but before the desktop displays. If you disable the wireless NIC, there is no pause. This only occurs when the system has network drives that it tries to reconnect. As you can imagine, this is a pain for the users to have to remember to delete all of their network drives or disable their wireless nic before they shut down. Any suggestions? Thanks

First, update the XP wireless client with the new version released a week ago:
Second, check group policy to be certain that you have not restricted cached logons, and the use of cached credentials.

Third, restrict the scope of the wireless client. From the Choose a wireless network dialog box, double-click your currently connected network. You will be prompted with a message asking whether you want to disconnect from the wireless network. When you select Yes, you will be disconnected. The status of the wireless network in the Choose a wireless network dialog box changes from Connected to Manual, indicating that you must manually specify when you want to connect. To manually reconnect to the wireless network, double-click the name in the Choose a wireless network dialog box. You can also configure the wireless network for an on-demand connection by clearing the Connect when this network is within range check box on the Connection tab for the properties of the wireless network.

Fourth, enable off-line files on the shares. You do not have to off-line enable the entire share, just some small portion.

Finally, consider using IconZone a freeware management utility designed to script yourself away from these problems in the logon scripts:
If you made the share mapping conditional on your Domain IP settings, the problem should be ameliorated.

Note: It is likely the issue is not the shares per se. XP is taking a long time trying to make a wireless connection. This is why disabling the wireless adapter "works" even though the logon script assigning shares is still in place.
