HP Pavilion 5195
Intel PIII 700 MHz with 256 Ram
Windows XP Pro
ESS ES56CVM Data Fax Voice Modem
After reinstalling Windows XP by upgrading. I have been running Xp for 1 1\2 years on this machine. Now I get a Juno Web prompt saying:
"Microsoft Windows does not have any modems listed for this computer"
I have un-installed the modem and reinstall it. I have deleted the modem from the System Properties/Device Manager/Modem/Ess ES56CVM Data Fax Voice Modem and let the computer find it, with it does and still no help.
When I go to Start/Control Panel/Phone modem Options/Modems, I see:
The following modems are installed:
Communications cable between two comp.. COM1
ESS ES56CVM-PI Data Fax Voice Modem COM8
How can I make the computer find the modem?
like I have said I have had XP running and working fine for over a year and a half. I thought that maybe the ESS drivers changed so I downloaded the driver for XP again, but no luck.
PS, I just looked at Device Manager/Ports(COM & LPT) The communications port is listed (COM1),but nothing about the modem (COM8).
