windows explorer sometime freezes, when manipulating "FAVOURITES" and in other things.Microsoft/win98 doesn't seem to offer aby fixes.any ideas?i am running win98,up to date, as far as know

What other taskss cause the os to freeze?

I would start by an updated virus scan, then and updated spyware scan... I recommend spybot.

sometimes Loses the "connection" icon from the bottom rh bar
have run anti-virus,adaware,spybot.the "composite" Norton Works 2003" icons get split up

Still need a few more details. So when you lose the connection icon (i'm assuming this is a dial up connection?), the computer freezes? Or is this a separate problem. Please list any and all conditions under which the OS freezes, and other problems separately.

hi matt. 1)icon problems appear to be seperate
2)rarely, double lrft-clicking a shortcut does not start an application BUT clicking "OPEN" from the right-click menu DOES start the application. 3)one type of hang is when using FAVOURITES,trying to delete a group entry e.g. MEDIA,LINKS.ie an item that "contains" other items.there are other cases but i cant remember them in detail.
all of these may not be associated of course.
regards Barry

1. When did these problems start?
2. Update your virus scanner and run a scan.
3. Install spybot, update and remove spywares.

4. Run MSCONFIG, go to startup tab, uncheck all background applications that you don't need launching at bootup.

Try it out...
