Win2K hangs at second startup screen

Win2k was working fine for months. No new hardware or software was added.

I shut the system off during a reboot (mistake) and now Win2K stalls on loading during the second load screen. It stops with the gas gauge in the middle, right over the "o" in microsoft.

Funny thing is, it starts great if I start the OS with logging enabled. I reboot and same hang.

Also, it start in safe mode; I reboot, and it hangs again.

In safe mode one of my CD-ROMS is missing, I locate the missing device and things work fine. I reboot and Win2k hangs.

Any ideas?

you might try switching the cdroms, put the primary as the secondary and the secondary as the primary...
