My friend asked me to post the following:

Hi.

What is your experience concerning the following training options:

- SAN (for example from IBM) --> Company is likely to deploy a SAN from IBM (DS4xxx) in the near future

- VMware ESX --> Company may choose to implement VMware products in this year

- RedHat Linux --> Friend has UNIX-experience but not with redhat

Training should result in a certification or at least prepare for it.

he already has a MCSE 2000 and 2003.

He thinks of 5 days classroom training.

He likes all training optins but does not have the time or money to do them all.

What is your experience? What was the benefit for you?

Bye

Interesting. What is your friend more interested in? SAN is a good cert, and in high demand, but limits "expertise" in a large environment. RedHat is a good certification, and has a good base for all Linux, but is more geared toward the vendor. VMWare's ESX is a pretty good cert that is also in high demand, but in itself, is a strange beast. Quite a big one-off of Linux, and helps only with VMWare in general. Has your friend done research on each, figuring out which one he is most interested in? How about visiting places like:

These break down each of the certs, so you can gain a better understanding of which might help most....
