Start by downloading winspm2.exe from ftp://ftp.avaya.com/incoming/Up1cku9/tsoweb/legend/ . It will error out (i.e., "insert disk 2", but if you save what it installed, you'll be able to upgrade it to whatever version you like with the "patches" on that site. Apply all patches in proper order to achieve the version you need.
I have also tried to use WSFTPro logging in as "anonymous". I use the IP address of 216.25.243.8 and can see an "incoming" folder, but it appears to be empty when I double click it.
Sucess!!
Using WSFTPro I connected the the Avaya site. The incoming folder did not show any contents, but by using the chgdir button I was able to manually point it to the "incoming/Up1cku9/tsoweb/legend" directory. The files then showed up. I downloaded several of the files, winspm23.exe being the one I eventully used for the install. I now have WinSPM V3 running and have accessed my Legend.
How exactly did you manage to get into Avaya's FTP site? I've tried every trick I know of & it won't let me in. I've tried IE6, Cute FTP, WS-FTPro & I keep getting a "Connection closed by remote host" message. I've tried anonymous w/t an e-mail as PW, blank, etc. Nothing is working.
1)Using WSFTPro I connected to 216.25.243.8 using an anonymous login and my email address as the password. You probably will also need to check the box for "passive transfers" on the Advanced tab in the connection properties. I had to do this to get it to work.
2)After it connects click on the "chgdir" button on the remote site side of WSFTPro. Change the "/" to read "/incoming/Up1cku9/tsoweb/legend" and then click OK.
This all looks great, since I'm about to add a D100 to someone's Legend system. Quick question, since I traditionally don't use MS-DOS or Windows when I can avoid it: Does the SPM package provide anything other than terminal emulation support? I'd like to just run Kermit, if I can....
As far as I know SPM (either DOS or WIN version) does not provide anything other than terminal emulation. However, I will qualify that statement by saying that I am in no way an expert in these systems.
Hopefully there is an expert who will read this thread and either confirm or contradict this answer.
It provides a lot more! If you are using WinSPm 3 or higher and are connecting to a version 5 Legend software or higher, it adds a lot of quick access windows GUI driven programming screens. This allows you to quickly look at all your trunk configs, cover groups, stations, etc. You can see everything about an extension on one screen, rather than hunting settings through multiple screens. It allows you to save switch configuration on your pc, not just the translation card. It allows for printing labels and reports. A very powerful tool if you learn some of the features. Most are fairly straight up. By the way, you can download all the winspm versions straight off the help site without the complicated jargon you guys are talking about.
I guess it has been a month or two since going to Avaya site. They have changed again!! There used to be a link off of support/communications systems titled downloads under each product family. No longer!!! I guess they are discouraging us secondary market and support guys. I have all upgrades stored, I think!
Guys will you be so kind and upload this files to an ftp page, I have tryied all the ways to download them from the avaya web page but they have chage alot....!!
If possible, please let me know to I can send you the user and password to upload it. or please contact me at leonardo_guzman@liteontc.com
