I created a new 500 set on my Option 11c and patched it to a jack and immediately got dialtone and was able to make outgoing calls. However, the phone will not ring. The ringer is turned up. If you know you are receiving a call you can pick up the handset and talk....it just doesn't ring. What am I missing on this set?? I do not have another 500 to compare it with.

Try another phone of course,If that doesn't work do the MOV command in LD 11 and put it on another T.N.It sound's like you have a bad TN.

there is probably no ring gen card in that shelf that would b the 1st thing that I would check if you already checked your basics phone, ring volume, etc.

northstarboy...I did try another phone and got the same thing....no ring. Not sure what you mean about the ring gen card. There is an analog card in this switch and this is the first 500 I've put on it.

He probably means a DTR card in 1 off your card slots.
Build another phone on another tn and see if you get ringing

OK. I'll try building another set tomorrow. I'll have to go to the site.

OPTION 11'S DO NOT HAVE A SEPARATE RING GEN, IT'S PART OF THE MAIN POWER SUPPLY. TRY CHANGING THE CARD IF THAT DOESN'T WORK CHANGE THE POWER SUPPLY FOR THAT CABINET

OLD ROLMEN WORKING ON NORTELS

Perrypj..The digital line cards and the universal trunk cards are behaving normally in that switch...wouldn't that mean the power supply is ok? I do have a spare analog card I swap out though.

They don't use ringing Current/voltage

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

Building another set on the analog card gave me the same results...dialtone but no ring when calling. Sounds like it might be the analog card. I did not have a spare so I'll have to order one.

Forgive for asking the obvious but did you set the dn up to ring or just appear?

There aren't any software setting to turn on/off the ringer.

I printed the TN...maybe someone can see something..

I just don't get why it won't ring. Thanks!!!

It will not have to do with your tnb software, follow perry and ace advice.

It's probably one of 2 things either a bad analog card or like perry said earlier the power supply. Just because the Digital and Trunks cards work correctly does not mean the PWR supply is good. It has circuitry in it for Ring Voltage for Analog sets also.

thank you hawks..since I don't have a spare analog card I'll have to borrow one from another Option11 at another site and see what happens.
