I created a new 500 set on my Option 11c and patched it to a jack and immediately got dialtone and was able to make outgoing calls. However, the phone will not ring. The ringer is turned up. If you know you are receiving a call you can pick up the handset and talk....it just doesn't ring. What am I missing on this set?? I do not have another 500 to compare it with.

you are using a master/primary socket?? in the uk we require a socket with a capacitor in cct to generate the ringing for a analogue phone

It's not getting any smarter out there. You have to come to terms with stupidity, and make it work for you.

Never heard of Sockets or a capacitor in cct.

Are you sure the ring resistors haven't been cut off to use them for outgoing only Modems. I used to do that years ago to keep hackers from accessing computers by dialup.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

acewarlock...this is over my head. can you explain what you mean about the ring resistors. i've installed analog phones/answering machines at other locations here and have never had a problem before now. the majority of our locations have 1 analog card and typically will have 2 or 3 analog devices on that card. i'm just not sure what to do next. thanks.

I still say it sounds like Analog Card or Power Supply.

Has this card worked before?
Have you tried moving the TN to another TN. maybe just that TN is bad, there are 16 ports on the card and sometimes they go bad.

Problem has been solved. I tested the phone at the 66 block and at the 110 block with a biscuit jack and the it rang. It ended up being the EDCO (protector)in the communications box in the building where the phone was located. I replaced the 50 with a 200 and the phone is ringing now. Thanks to everyone for the help!!!
