Hi, we have Siemens OfficePoint 150E (with CBPC, STLS4, FMC8, IMOD,
V24/2 cards installed). As i understood, i could connect it to the PC, using RS232 interface on V24/2 board by NullModem DB25M/DB9F cable. The question is: what software i must use to program/manage this device? In manual described "Assistant E" software, which is almost impossible to find. Only soft that i found was "Hipath 3000 Manager E V7 R3" - it is to operate using this one?

Thanks in advance!

Manager E Replaced Assistant E, and should be fine.

The other thing you need to know is what software version you're on, which would be 1.0, 2.0 or 3.0 because the login process is different between 1.0 and the other two.

Having the IMOD, if your system has DID capability you can also program a DID number on the IMOD and dial-in remotely for administration as well.

Thank you, i'll check software version of system soon.
My system is DID capable, but i think that managing it remotely by connected PC (TeamView, Remote Desktop e.t.c.) is much easier.

Now having problem while trying to connect PBX from Manager software: when i running "Extras>>>Start wizard>>>Hipath 3000>>>V24(Com1)" i always getting error message "Communication system is Offline. Check the cable connection" ...
Settings is 9600/8/1/none from both sides;
Communication cable is null modem;
PBX software version is HE420F (2.2 as i understood);
Had tryed both V24 interfaces on PBX - with same result. Is there are some other settings from PBX side must be applyed?

You should just be able to tell it to direct connect and it will use whatever COM port you have set up in the config. I have had issues with cables on my 150E in the past and it seems to only want to work properly with the cable that came with it (9 - 25 hooked right to the front of the processor card). I have also not yet found a USB - Serial adapter that will work with it, and kept an old Win95 laptop with real serial ports for that specific purpose.

OK, ofc my nullmodem cable is not original cable by Hicom/Siemens, but it is properly pinned and hooked as you described (V24 interface (DB25) on PBX directly to Com (DB9) interface of PC without any other adapters) ...
On PBX side i setted up only 22-13 (baud rate value to 9600)

It seems that Manager don't see at all my PBX, i also had tryed access PBX by hyperterminal without any result ((

Try using a straight through cable. I never figured out exactly how that cable was wired because I had two of them and never needed to make my own. I know it never seemed to work with an off-the-shelf cable though.

Are you sure that only settings from PBX side is baud rate setting? May be i must configure wich ports on V24 is used for connection/enable this feature/e.t.c.?
I had checked pinout of my cable another one time, and it is exactly the same, that described in manual (wich has no difference at all with nullmodem cable).

I have never configured anything - I just plug the cable right onto the port on the front of the processor board, set COM port and Baud Rate in Assistant E communications setup screen. The only other thing I do is pick some generic modem and erase all the setup string code boxes if I'm direct connecting. No need to send all those commands out to the port and possibly confuse the processor port.

Also... I use the terms Assistant E and Manager E interchangeably - Manager E is the current tool, but they both pretty much look the same.
