I've noticed that the message(.wav) files remain in the Account holders folder on the Voicemail pro server even after the message has been deleted. How long will they remain? Is there a switch that will remove the file at the time the user deltes the message?

I know in voicemail pro the option is under administration-prefs-general-housekeeping. There you can define the number of hours to keep after being deleted.

Can the user restore within that time, or do you have to pull the sound files off the server?

Kris

The setting you are looking for does not exist. The settings fordhouse mentioned are automatted settings for messages listened or unlistened to, but not for deleted messages. I have also asked the same question, technical support couldn't give me a definetive answer. I know it doesn't delete it immedietly because Ive tested before and just tested it again. I will monitor it to see how long it takes until it removes from the directory. I will post the results.

I believe the interval between housekeeping is 2 hours

If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.

I checked for the message this morning and it was gone. All I can tell you at this point is:

The message didnt delete right away, but deleted atleast 24 hours later. Unfortunetly, I was around to check it every hour. I will test it again today as I should be available to monitor it.

If you run the Voicemail service in it desktop mode, you can see when it does its housekeeping in the trace. The manual says its after any 2 hour period of inactivity.

Sizbut was correct, I confirmed here in my lab, after deleting the msg in the vmail box, the .wav file will remain in the account directory for 2 hours and then it will be deleted automatically.

I listened to and deleted 3 messages at 8:30 this morning and they are still in my account folder. How can I turn on the feature that removes the messages after 2 hours?

I thought I already covered that.

Im using 3.1.56, but as far as I am aware, all software levels should work the same. I have never run into the problem where it has not worked on a particular level. But like I said previously, Im in the U.S., u r in the U.K., right?

I think it 3.1.15.(the help about screen is scrabled due to Terminal Services) I upgraded earlier this year. U.S. also.
I verified that the wav files have been in the folder for over 2 hours by deleting a few messages this morning and they're still there.

Can you write the content of your status.txt in the account folder?

Re-reading sizbuts post "The manual says its after any 2 hour period of inactivity" are you logging back into the box before the 2 hrs?

Prev - how do you define inactivity? I don't think they mean monitoring the physical file system, which I don't do often. The first time I looked today and the creation date of the (5) .msg files are between 11:00AM yesterday and 9:00AM today.

No, he means the user logging into the mailbox within the 2 hour window period.

That would be ANY activity on the VM - User accessing mailbox, call que msg getting played, auto attendant answering call ....
