This is doing my heed right in.

I have CCC all installed on 2003 machine and workin.

I have installed wallboard client on my XP machine.

When i try and connect wallboard server to the delta server on the 2003 machine it says

permission denied whilst connecting to server or process

WTF?

What am i doing wrong? What can i do to get rid of this. Im sure it is permissions of some sort but i have followed the manual to the T regarding access permissions etc.

please help me cause its starting to ruin my day.

Windows Firewall? License issue? Is this a domain envirnment? Could be authentication problem..

My server is on a domain but my lap top is not on the same domain, it is on my work network where as the server is on its own standalone test rig domain.

Firewall off.

Not a lic issue. All lics are valid, i can open wallboard client on the server but not my laptop.

I had this same problem, and could not work out how to get around it. I ended up adding the PC to the same domain as this made my life a lot easier.

Sounds like 2003 server is denying the connect to a non-trusted computer (workgroup pc). Try adding the laptop to the domain to see if it makes any difference.

hmmm, bugger. I cannot do that really because of the way my laptop is setup using jnovell and all that jazz.

I have also tried taking the pc off the domain and still struggling.

Cheers

Permissions issue...CCC share needs to be avialable to client. You've shared the CCC directory on server, correct? Z

And added the Laptop user to the Share Permissions

Fooball is not a matter of life and death-It is far more important!!!!

Work backwards - make the whole drive on the CCC server shared, open to whoever wants to access it and go from there. It's a ridiculous way for a client app to work - but that's the way it works! Avaya told me years ago this would change - of course it hasn't though!

I have done all of the above.

I have now got past the first error but now i get the error that is listed in the hints and tips section of wallboard manager manual. Unable to fine path/filename.

I will run through what i started doing at 6pm when i could take my laptop off the network.

I have a 2003 machine logging on to the domain.

I created a new domain accoun for may lapper and set my laptop to log on to the domain also.

I can open wallboard client now and i can see the delta server, i select it, wallboard client opens the gives the filename/path not found error.

It says in the book that this is usually caused by the c drive of the server not being shared or the client not having authentication on the server.

If i go into windows explorer and look at the c drive it does not have the share hand picture on it but if i look at sharing it is shared as C$ (the default share).

I have also created a share on the CCC folder just in case, called CCC. In the security tab for both locations i have selected "everyone" and "users" and given full control.

I have also added the lap top user to the share on the C drive and the CCC folder with full control.

No dice.

HHHHEEEEELLLLLPPPPPP

I am missing somethimng stoopid but i cannot find it.

Does anybody else have anything to throw in here as its about to go out the window.

2 x 2003 machines logged into domain.

On server C drive is shared as C$, also CCC folder is shared as CCC.

I have added the wallboard client user into the security tab of the c drive of the server and also the CCC directory with full control.

Im still getting the filename/path not found thing.

If i go start / run \\192.168.77.2\C$ or

If i go start / run \\192.168.77.2\Test (a second share on same drive)

yes i can access the c drive no diddly problems

I can also put a more specific address and go into the CCC directory too.

I can also write to both locations by creating a text file from the client.

Then that is not the problem :)

It must be a rights issue then

Ok, so...........

On the CCC folder and the c drive under security i have added the client domain user and given full control.

I have also been on to the domain controller and done it there on the server account just for good measure.

Question

My server happens to be the domain admin and i am logged into the domain as that. Could that have something to do with it? So my client is trying to access the domain administrator.

Could be your problem
Why is the server the domain admin ?
I would not do that personaly
I would keep that seperated

I have just created a new domain user, just a normal user still no joy.

Its just the way its set up on my test rig.

It isnt a working set up, its just easier this way.
