I have all I need to install VMM. I am installing it on a VMWare server. I can get teh VMM client to install, the WebLM to install and the server service for VMM to install. What is not happening is that teh VMM server icon does not show up in the system tray as it should. It appears as thoguh it is running, but I cannot confiure the server so I can cannoect with the client. anyone had/having this issue?

Well, not to be the bearer of bad news, but, AVAYA is no longer really supporting VMM, they are going with Prognosis. So instead of trying to diagnose a soon to not be supported product, you might want to consider trying out Prognosis.

I know Avaya is not supporeting it anymore, but my company had paid for it before I got here and finalluy i got a license last month to install it. It is an unlimited license so they want to use it before buying anything else. I am aware of Prognosis. But I need to get this installed first.
I have successfully installed this on a Windows XP machine, now the company wants it on a server in our NOC.
I have installed and uninstalled serveral times thinking I missed something, but it ends up the same.

There are a number of "tricks" to getting VMM working, one of which is to setup your SNMP service in windows, and the "public" and "private" names, before you even install it... also, you need to be able to get to the console (virtual or not) or the machine it is running on, because that is where you setup the parameters/change the password, etc.
FYI, you can also request a 30 day, unlimited trial license for Prognosis, 4250 phone limit, 10 PBX's.

Okay,
I have verified SNMP is installed and running as a server service. I have configured it as a read/write service as required by the Avaya installation guide. I now can get the Apache server to install along with WebLM and the client. However, I still do not see the VMM server running. When I go to programs to start the service I see it trying to start as the batch files comes up in the cmd window, but when I try to see if the VMMService.exe is running it is not. Is not running as a server service or a task manager process. What may be preventing it from installing properly?

I've had issues with VMM and vmware as well. I can get the client to run but not the web interface. Uggghhh....
As to your question. Make sure that when you do the install your attached to the console.
To RDP to the console click start, run, and type:
mstsc -v:10.10.10.10 /F -console

I am running VMM in a VMWare workstation on Win2k3 (R1) without problems.
I _think_ that the VMM Server icon only appears for the administrator that installed VMM, either that or it only appears in the console window, and not in Remote Desktop.

thats correct. It only appears for the installer. That is why you need to be on the console port when installing it.
