I found this very useful faq as below (thanks)

Site A Site B

not being the most IP Office literate being I will try to detail what I have and what I hope to achieve as clearly as possible but be gentle.

I have 2 sites, linked by a mac transparent wifi bridge. Good speed (average 34-38meg)and rock solid ping.

I have 1 ip406 v1 with a pri card, and a vcm10 on 3.0 580 software.

its ip is 192.168.1.106

I want to add a second system for the office over the road but use the existing isdn30

I have available a 403ds and a dt30. this has a vcm10 in it
3.0 580 too

its ip is 192.168.1.105

the whole site router ip is 192.168.1.254

when I have added the lines (10 I presumed) i gave them an id of 52 on the .106 and 51 on the .105 systems.

sort of like below

Not added these shortcodes yet as not sure what is required, I presume it should be as below.

Pretty sure I have this wrong and the subnet could be 255.255.255.0, the address on the .105 system should be the address of the other ipo .106?

Other than that I have a vmpro serial and a parallel dongle for the vm pc, can I download the vmpro software easily enough or do I need to buy it given I have the dongle and serial? I would ideally like to have 1 central vm server to cut down on admin.

I have found that the licence server isnt seen by the ipo as the keys are showing as invalid (clarified as good by an avaya partner) I just don't want to keep pestering him so thought I would pester you all!

Any help gratefully appreciated and virtual beers all round.

Unfortunately most people will tell you to pester the BP ;)

Your config looks good. IP route statements are correct.

The license dongle isnt a 'vmpro' dongle. It is a general license dongle for IP office which 'could' contain a vmpro license.

What are your other licenses?

Take out the default gateway routes, it will mess up things because you dont have to route ip traffic on the same LAN/Subnet.
The shorcodes are only needed if you dont use voicenetworking aka SCN, I adviseto use SCN then you have a lot of features between the nodes. No licenses required with these systems/software build.
By the way, your shortcodes must be in the format:
5xx/./52/Dial and 2xx/./Dial/51
The IP lines are cross linked so the line of one system points to the IP Adress of the other system and vice versa.

That should be enough to get it going.

Denny the dongle has these licenses

CPU Location Description Derived Quantity
CCC_AGENT 10
CCC_AGENT 5
CCC_WALLB 1
CCC_SVR 255
SUPERVISOR 1
Phone Manager Pro per user 5
VMPRO 255

hoping to make use of the vm pro and phone manager

the rest are useless as I dont run a call centre just the IT in a small law firm. much less interesting!

intrigrant

I thought SCN was a fancy new fangled (I am just getting used to the 406 v1 prior to that I was more used to old panasonic and gdk16 type stuff) v2 feature for the 406?

remember I have a 403ds and a 406v1 on the two "SITES" which sounds very grand.

My other alternative is to use the spare 406v1 i have on the shelf but then i would need to acquire another pots module to run the ingle fax machine. god i wish i had the budget to swap all this kit for v2 ds.

That said i have what i have.

thanks all for the feedbacki will implement and update you all on progress tomorrow evening when i can get the users off the system.

cheers

sorry for the delay guys the client wouldnt let me have an outage so I will be revisiting this on monday.

your input is gratefuly received.

ok finally got there.

the subnet mask is a big one at 255.255.255.0 apparently

also set line ID and line group id too

works like a charm.

just need to download the vmpro software and get my vm pc to serve the licence keys, even turned off the xp pro firewall but the avaya unit wont see it. weird.

any ideas on that one?

also have a shed load of ds handsets and a ds module that I am unsure if I will use as apparentl they wont work with DT at the same time.

Now I have loads of DT and not too keen at letting go of them as they are really cheap now at a £5 a pop at most.

So you try to be cheap :)

You are already trying to set this up for about two weeks or so.
Most of us do this with an hour :)
Sometimes you better spend some money to save some more.

When you pay peanuts, you get monkeys!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Dear TLPETER,

Your comments are duly noted, the fact that I had a month or so prior to the site going live was the main reason why I didnt rush. That along with the clients reluctance for an outage during their usual working day which runs from 8am to 8pm most days meant that it did take a little longer than expected.

So sorry I took a couple of weeks, and so grateful for the valuable input.

Kindest regards,

Jamie Wilson

Hi jamie,

There is nothing wrong helping a customer to have a system as cheap as possible if it fills their needs.
I hope it is working now for you but i suggest to use the latest 2.1 software which basically the same as the 3.0.580 but slightly more stable.

cheers,

Cor

Intrigrant, am I right that my existing 3.0 580 on the IPO 406 v1 is the latest? but the 403 can go later.

Will having mismatched versions cause me problems?

Thanks again

Jamie
