I have a wave file that was recorded in the correct format by a third party that I need to use for a auto attendant. The file will not play via the AA but it will play over the phone via the wave editor in vmp. I tried to get the files to play at the customer site and on my test system (R7) but neither would work. Any ideas why they files won't work?

Put the file in C:\Program Files (x86)\Avaya\IP Office\Voicemail Pro\VM\WAVS\ or in a map in the WAVS directory and it will play it then.

Indeed, it need to be in the Wavs folder or in folder that's path is relative to the wavs folder :)

The file are in the WAVS folder. When I select the file in vmp wave editor it will play over the extension but not when I dial the short code to play the AA. It will work with a different file when I dial the short code so I know that part of it works as well. The file format is correct.

rename the file could be that it's to long or strange characters used.

I've seen it before where windows shows the file as the correct format but the VM Pro just would not use it, think I just played it on my laptop with a lead looped from the headphone socket to the mic port and recorded at the same time with VM Pro client to solve it :)

Use MediaInfo to see the below info
Format : Wave
Format : PCM << sometimes this is Microsofts ADPCM used by the audioconverter software if it is written in .NET
Bit rate : 128 Kbps
Channel(s) : 1 channel
Sampling rate : 8 000 Hz
Bit depth : 16 bits

I found that if I tried to replace a wav file that was already loaded, I would have to restart the VMPRO to see the replaced file.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I had already tried everything except re-recording it as amriddle01 suggested. Thanks for the idea, it worked like a champ.

that is one big McGuyver way to do it. :)
I keep that in mind for myself next time I have an issue and together with a swiss army knife and duct tape I can build an airplane out of cardboard playing auto attendant greetings

It's the best way to make any custom recording the correct format or even for holdmusic files etc, works great :)
