vMAS Upgrade

Hi, I just upgraded our virtual MAS Demo kit to version 4.0.223.0. I will describe what I did:

1. Disabled Service Link
2. Contacted AMC and asked them to clear Hardware ID for Application Record
3. Shut down guest Virtual Machine
4. Installed new .ova file containing vMAS
5. Powered on new Virtual Machine
6. Restored from Backup
7. Installed additional NPM blades from DVD1 and DVD2

Isn't there a shorter way to do these upgrades?

What if I just choose Option 6 "Upgrade Mitel Application Suite" from the Server Console? will this work and safe me from contacting AMC, etc, etc??

In case the answer to the above is yes, what do I need to download from MOL? Will I need MAS ISO DVD? Will I still need New NPM DVDs?

Not when you are dealing with virtual. You can't follow the steps that a MAS on a physical server does. You always have to install a new .ova file. I suppose you could try another method. Just never call support for assistance if you do because they will immediately tell you to reinstall the correct way.

I'd tell you a UDP joke but I'm afraid you won't get it. TCP jokes are the best because you always get them.

I never contact the AMC when upgrading, as long as you do a restore you're safe. If you don't restore then you need to reset the app record hardware ID.

I just upgraded a vMAS this week with a new ova file, here what i done:

1. Backup vMAS (smeserver)
2. Shutdown vMAS
3. Install new vMAS ova
4. Restore from backup
5. Select vMAS install menu option and add extra components like Nupoint TTS etc.
6. Test
7. Delete old vMAS instance

Works like a charm
