Hello All,

I'm having so strange issues with the VM to e-mail functionality on a IPO r8.1 with VM Pro running on a UC Module.

I'm currently running a continuous ping from the email server to the VM pro server and while this ping is on the vm to email is working great.
Once I stop the ping, the vm to email stops working after about 1 hour.

I have been working with Cisco on this and the current lifetime settings on the site to site tunnel is 24 hours.
However, our service stops working after one hour, so it must be something else that is preventing this to happen sooner than 24 hrs.

I stop the ping and test the vm to email after one hour.

20 mins later the vm to email was working fine, but 1 hour later (1 hour after stopping the ping) the vm to email is no longer working.
So something is timeing out after 1 hour. This is not the cisco s2s tunnel. That is set to 24 hours. Any ideas what else could be?

I have the Windows firewall turned off.
I have disabled auto updates
The SMTP server does not require authentication.

The IPO is at r.8.1 and the VM Pro is running on a UC module.

Any ideas what going on with this one?

There is more than one setting in the Cisco that can effect this, I would bet good money it is the Cisco causing it, have seen similar issues in an SCN before using Cisco generated tunnels :)

BTW, never did find out what it was as we proved it by using 2 Drayteks to build a tunnel and the issue went away, issue was back with the Cisco folks then :)

Is the tunnel staying up? if there is no "interesting traffic" the tunnel may be dropping.

Also, make sure there are to inspect maps looking at the traffic across the tunnel.

How can you tell if the traffic is "interesting" without inspecting it? [glasses]
