We have a functioning VM Pro 3.2 running on Windows server 2003 (32 bit). I'm trying to retire all our old, unsupported servers and wanted to install VM Pro 3.2 on a new server. We have licensing for Server 2012 R2 (64 bit) so I'd like to install it on that. Does anyone know if it's possible? My IPO is a 412, also running version 3.2. It's run fine for over a decade so I haven't bothered to do any updates.

Hell if they sprung for a new windows 2012 R2 server then maybe a new IP Office 500 v2 with new software would be a better fit

Hi Joe,
That is a possibility. Are 5410 and 5520 phones compatible with a IPO 500 V2? Are all the expansion modules we currently use with the IPO412 going to work, or is it a complete system change. Just trying to get a handle on it.

5410 no problems.
5520 never heard about that one.

And only V2 expansion modules are supported from release 9.x and above.

But hey, a new system in 15 years? Not bad I supose...

What are your expansion modules? someone on here should be able to answer that

Sorry for the typos.
The phones we have are the 5410, 5420 and the 5610 IP phone. I have (5) digital stations, (2) phone units and (3) Analog trunk units and (2) PRI cards in the IP412 unit.
Is there any of this that could be kept if we went with the IPO 500 series?

I think only the phones are re-usable.

IP400 trunk cards cannot be used anymore, since the legacy card carrier is not supported anymore.

But with an IPO500V2 and two combocars ATM you have 12 digital phone ports, 4 analog phone ports, 8 analog trunk ports and 20 VCM channels.

Add a Phone two module and a dual pri and you're done.

Ok, so only the phones could be reused. Can these other things work still?
Voicmail Pro config - can I export and import the config file into the new version of VMPro?
Will SCN still work to other sites that have IPO406 units?
Can I import the config file from the IPO412 or do I need to start over on programming?
Will any of our current licenses (softconsole, vmpro, phone manager pro still work from the dongle I have, or does that also need to be bought again?

Thanks for the help. I think we need to upgrade but it's looking like a very costly and time consuming option.

No..

Voicmail Pro config - can I export and import the config file into the new version of VMPro?No. But you can copy the wav files.

Will SCN still work to other sites that have IPO406 units?
No, only supported with 1 major release difference.

Can I import the config file from the IPO412 or do I need to start over on programming?
I would re-programm the system. There are major differences.

Will any of our current licenses (softconsole, vmpro, phone manager pro still work from the dongle I have, or does that also need to be bought again?
You can swap them to the SD card.

Thanks for the help. I think we need to upgrade but it's looking like a very costly and time consuming option.
Yes, but after 10-15 years.. Not bad..

- Voicemail config, theoretically yes but I would rebuild from scratch and re-use the recordings
- SCN will only work is software levels are not more then 2 versions apart. so R6 & R8 will work, R6 & R9 will not work.
- Rebuild the config from scratch
- You have to migrate the licenses from the current dongle to a SD Card serial number
Licenses remain valid but not everything is working on the current version.
SoftConsole will work, PhoneManager is obsolete and will not work at all above R9.0

Our sales guys call this kind of replacement a upgrade but it is basically a complete new install.

Thank you so much for all the clarification. I really appreciate all the help I get here.

Didn't I read that 5400 phones weren't supported on R10? Of course that doesn't mean that they won't work.

If SCN isn't supported you can use H323 or SIP trunks between sites but you will lose some of the functionality.

Buying a new car of the same brand and type is still buying a new car... not a upgrade. Commercial upgrade my *ss.

But you take the old radio to the new car Cor.

Now it is a commercial upgrade.. :)

make sure they are not using phone manager (lite or pro) because that will go away with an upgrade.
