I have an AVAYA IP OFFICE 500 customer with one Extension where the VM Box will not record the message left by the caller. The VM Box answers, plays the greeting and gives the Tone to Record. You can access the VM Box and change the greeting. When you look at the VM Box with Visual Voice it shows no messages. And of course do not get any MWI. The source has the V4908 (the Ext.). This customer has VM Pro. The voicemail box is listed but shows “Never Accessed”. I have disabled and re-enabled VM on the Extension. No change. I have under the Source Tab, placed this mailbox under another extension. No change.
Any suggestions?

unless you do not have VM to Email enabled and on Forward state, then You may need to check on vmpro for that user for a leave short code and see if there is any tree over there.

Otherwise, I would try to delete that user from the Manager and Save then Recreate it again.

you have a corrupt user most likely. Delete the user, save the config. Reboot the voicemail machine and then re-create the user from scratch. That should fix the problem.

Thanks for the tips.
I have completely deleted the Ext. Which removes it from VM Pro.
Saved it on the Controller and Did a Save & Make live on the VM Pro.
Rebooted the VM Pro.
Rebuilt the Ext. Which Adds the VM box on the VM Pro.
Test fails. Message will not record
The VM Pro shows the VM is Active with the call.
Changed the Greeting
Get the new Greeting on the test call.
Test Fails No message recorded
Do a Save and Make Live.
Reboot the VM Pro.
The new Greeting is wipe out and replaced with the Default Greeting.
It is as if the VM Pro will not save this VM Box.
I then built a whole new Ext with a new Ext number. Everything works.
At this point I’m ready to give this person a new Extension number, which in this case will not be a big deal.

Sorry for asking this
You wouldn’t by any chance have 2 users with the same user name.
Not the Full Name But the USER NAME.
JUST A THOUGHT
Open the error pane and have a look..it will tell you.

Thank You everyone. Another Tech suggested the same thing. I did not find another instance of the name nor a space. But I did change the User Name by 1 letter and all works.

Ok then .
So out of interest what was the original name
And what did you change it to

There must have been a similar name some were

The name was Con and I changed it to Conn. I could not find another instance where that was part of a name. Some one suggested Console, but I don't see it. Thanks for your interest. I'm still curious.

I have no doubt now that it is in there somewhere, I just don't see it.

Open the error pane...all errors will be shown there and duplicate names

export the user as bin file.

Then remove the user > save config to IPO.

restart VM pro service.

Import the user bin file > save config to IPO.

restart VM pro service.

Check again..

I had this before..

I saw nothing on the Error Pane. Thanks for all the help and interest.
