Does anyone remember the capabilities of Visual dBASE 5.5 Professional?

I have a large program I have written in version 5.7(NOT the Professional version) and wish to build the files into an .exe file. But it will not allow the compiling and display and printing of the Crystal reports that come with v5.5. I get an error message that the Report Writer is not installed. Is this a shortcoming of my version? ... and would use of the Professional version enable reports display/printing from the .exe file?

Or, would I need to get a copy of the Visual dBASE 5.5 Compiler?

Incidentally, I have found v 5.7 to be very stable (especially compared to dBASE 3plus) and have been using if for years.

I have had this issue before. my problem was the location of the crystal portion of the software. this was addressed in the knowledgebase I believe. good luck... there aren't a lot of guys for help when it comes to dbase and the only thing there is less of from them is formal training.

Thanks Chally,

I have just recently solved my problem by purchase of the Professional version. Yes, it does exactly what I want and is very easy to use. I could not find the Crystal Report Writer files, that are needed to work with the .exe file, anywhere in the standard version despite many attempts. Visual dBASE may be old but it does what I want perfectly. It is too bad that it does not work with 64 bit Windows.

The one thing I do miss is the ability to use the scroll wheel on the mouse. Do you know if anyone published a .dll to enable this mouse function in VdBase 5.5? I have no idea, but would it be simple to write a .dll to do this?

Briber.
