sorry for the last double threading...m kinda new here
ne ways....
my norton anti virus worked quite well before until i stopped using it. i tried to open it but it wont. I checked in the scheduled tasks in the control panel and its status is set to 'could not start' but i can't find the reason why. Please help how to bring it back again.
And when i press start> run> sfc/ scannow [ty bcastner] the window only appears for a milli-second and disappears no matter how much i keep on opening it. It does the same thing my window task manager does.

Here is linney's list of on-line virus scanners. Run any two:

Symantec (Norton Anti-virus) Security Check - Free on-line scan

Click the 'Run Virus Check' or 'Run Security Check' button.
or -

Click 'Find out today if you are safe'. Then click 'Scan for Viruses'.

Trend Micro (PC-cillin) - Free on-line Scan - very good at detecting 'joke' viruses. A small Download Required.

Panda's Active Scan.
