In fact the soe requires vcm for voip, but it is inbuilt and you cannot swap it.

VOIP = VCM with no exceptions.

tlpeter and puregold are both right.

Every Avaya IP system except the small office requires VCM module.
IP SOE has either 3 VCM, or 16 CVM on mainboard, therefore not swapable.

You also need VCM if you will use IP Phone(s).

With all respect but if you don't know this then you where lucky
This is all in the first course you need to do
But you could have forgotten it, if you do not work with the system yet or a few times

where did you guys take your test "open book"? The testing we do is closed testing...no notes, no books, no anything just an issued slate and pen and a supervisor to make sure you don't cheat!!!

That is the ACA network exam
Why it is called ACA i don't know but the ACA certificate is more then that
