Hi guys,

I have an annoying problem which has been occurring at one of our client's sites.

They have an IP403 with a VCM5 card. They are using 8 IP Phones (4602) in another building, which connects by fibre using Layer 3 switches.

Over time, the VCM channels available seem to reduce from 5 to 1. As soon as one IP phone is picked up, the other phones show disconnected, and cannot make or receive calls.

Reset the CCU and hey presto, it lives. They are on version 3 but granted, I do need to push them up to build 44.

Just wondering if anyone has seen this before.

Regards

Chris

There is a known issue with the vcm30 card locking up that is fixed in 3.044. Might be all of them, try upgrading.
TB043

We had the same problem - get it logged with Avaya and a private build can be sent to you - not so sure this particular problem was fixed in 3.0(44), so said the Avaya Tier4 guy!

Had the same problem with 3.040 and it has not reared its ugly head with 3.044
You can watch the VCM in system monitor. Filters > trace options. select SYSTEM tab and check on the development tracing.
now under "Status" you have new options of Voice Compression.

Hi,

we've experienced this problem with all firmwares versions since 2.0 builds.
The issue is known on all IP Office platforms and with all VCM cards(5;10;30 etc).
The VCM channels are not correctly released after end of communication.
The issue occurs only with IP terminals not with IP lines.
You can check with sysmon RTP streams : after park, transfer and other operations, the RTP flow always hold the VCM channel after clearing or blind transfering communication.

Avaya TierIV knows it from 1 year.

try to deselect fast start and direct media path on ip extensions. It works better
check also the Ip phones firmwares. last version is available at support.avaya.com

good luck
