vcm 32 card fail to operate it flashes red

Avaya ip office at a certain branch of standard chartered bank fail to call out after a have rain .....
it has the following cards
1. VCM 32
2. PHONE 2
the system connected with ip phone 96... series and on the phone 2 first port the analogy phone connected?
on the vcm 32 two direct line are connected ..

ON TROUBLE SHOOTING
I discovered the vcm 32 has got electric short on the daughter card
and on system status while i trouble shooting it shows base card but no daughter card.

apart from that the analogy phone was programmed as a HOTLINE but also it fails ......not only that when you dial the analogy phone to a digital phone it doesn!t ?
and the ip office is connected to a main branch the objective of hot line is to call direct on customer care at headquarter

me I have the question why this analogy phone it doesnt call the digital and the digital it dosnt call the analogy...? and phone two is okay?
 
I hope I understand it well : The VCM32 lamp is steady red and the atached trunk card is not recognized/working.

When the VCM32 is broken you cannot call to/from IP Phones or through H.323 trunk lines to other offices.
So your problem is clear : the VCM32 is at total loss
The solution is simple : replace the VCM32 with the attached trunk card
But if this problem occured due to water damage then better replace the whole system as any component may be unreliable, we do that always in case of thunder damage.
 
Thanks for your advice but what I discovered it fails the attached card (daughter card) it is not flashes steady read it beep after 5 second and on system status it shows base card VCM 32 is there but no daughter card ..? and the IP PHONE IT WORKS AS USUAL....the only thing I discovered it is the daughter card fails it self.....@ intrigrant (programmer).
 
Which led flashes red?
LEd 9 is for the trunk card while led 1 is for the VCM card.

Follow Integrants advise

if the system has suffered water damage REPLACE EVERYTHING - even if it works now it will probably suffer corrosion & fail later. at lease now you can charge for the replacement rather than being forced to replace under maintenance (& the cust can claim on their insurance ).

This is the type of fault that we would simply audit the system to confirm the required components & quote, we may restore partial service if possible but would then advise the cust that the system was no longer covered by maintenance until it was replaced.


A Maintenance contract is essential, not a Luxury.
Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear
 
You initial post was to say at least vague so I guessed on what may be the problem.
Replace the daughter card and pray that all other componets are good for now and in the future, as said before by me and IPGuru, best is to replace all if there is moisture/water damage.

1. The system doesn't suffer water damage...it seem to be have affected by thunder
2.On flashes the CCM 32 it flashes fast beep like when it start to initialize....
3.On looking to phone 2 on the system status it shows the BASE PHONE 2 AND DAUGHTER CARD 4 ATM
what I did I took the daughter card from the phone 2 and put it on VCM 32 But it doesn't. still it shows the beeping flashes..?

This what I did this noon.

apart from the Voip connection which does by the VCM 32 ..I have the question what other function of the VCM 32....? OR Does the VCM 32 make the incoding apart from the Voip?
this make the challange from the analogy phone why doesnt call the digital phone..? and vice versa ..?

If your equipment took a lightning strike, (thunder is just the audio), it never stops in just one card.
The high voltage crawls through the circuits and may cause damage to the motherboard or other cards that you don't see before much later.

The VCM card does nothing on a Digital <-> Analog call.
You got partially toasted equipment, swap it for new. (Third time mentioned now?)

Use the insurance, that way the customer actually gets something back on what they have paid for.

U missed the lightning part.
Replace the complete unit and cards.
This is an insurance issue for the customer.

Storm damage = BER (Beyond Economical Repair)

When I worked in the repair centre for SDX (before they ware taken over by Avaya & then sold to multi-message) and items that listed storm damage ofn the fault ticket were instantly condemned as such without even bothering to look at them for the reasons already highlighted - components that look health today will probably fail next week (or sooner)


A Maintenance contract is essential, not a Luxury.
