Using TAPI on 64 bit computer 3

Do anyone have a solution for using TAPI or something similar for a 64 bit computer. Cannot get this to install.

Supported by R6 and by R5 Q4 2009. See IP Office tech bulls 112 and 115.

ps. "64 bit computer" is a bit vague, which OS.

it may not be supported (in fact TAPI is "sold as is" anyway) but the WOW will take care of running it.

I have it working on win 7 enterprise 64 bit. I believe user4_2_29 had 64bit tapi client on it.

Seems that Avaya doesn't support TAPI on 64bit Windows 2003 Server. take a look at Technical Bulletin 115 (Page 83)

page 83 clearly shows TAPI in 1st and 3rd part mode supported on all current windows platforms.XP --> windows server 2008 32/64 bit

with this clause - Windows 7 support is only on Professional, Enterprise and Ultimate versions

You are right hairlessupportmonkey but Windows 2003 x64 is not mentioned in that table... Just only the 32bit W2k3 server...

I think in this case its a moot point, since the poster wants Windows 7 support.

I suspect since win2k3 64bit wasnt too widley adopted prior to Win2k8 caming along, avaya completely forgot about it!

Server 2003 64 bit is not supported and they will not make it too.
Server 2008 is the way to go and Avaya knows that.

I got this working for phone manager on windows 7 - 64 bit today. Turns out you cannot have the firewall turned off. You need to have the firewall on and manually add the exceptions for TAPI and phone manager.

First set the install exe files to TAPI, Phone Manager, and DEVlink to run in compatability mode fpr XP, then install as usual. I found sometimes you have to first install, then uninstall user suite, TAPI,and devlink from add or remove programs in the control panel, and then re-install, but see what works for you.

Then under Control Panel, Phones and modems, Advanced, configure the TAPI2 from Avaya exactly as if you were logging in on Phone Manager.

Finally, open ports 135 TCP, 2000 TCP, 50791 UDP, 50799 UDP, 67 UDP, and 69 UDP for Home/Work (private).

Reboot, and you should then be able to configure the click to dial in Outlook.

You have to reboot, or it wont work.
