I want to use the feature buttons on Polycom phones, transfer from phone to phone etc. Does anyone know how to make this happen. As of now I can only answer calls. Model SoundPoint IP 430 SIP

I have to document, i need to configure 200 phones using the config files during the boot process, I was wondering if anyone has experience editing these config files?
I have tried to do it myself but it seems I missing something as the phones are not fully functional unless I manually configure them via the web gui..

Here is what I did for the XML files but this was for 321s:
Use Microsoft's XML Notepad. Open up the template files they have.
Copy the template to a new file and remove all the settings I didn't want. (One for the site and one for the phone. Keep the template files exactly as is but just add extra files AFTER. Latest file loaded takes effect and overwrites settings of the other files.) This made sure I kept the proper XML structure intact.
Modify the initial files to also obtain the phone/site specific files. Usually phone specific is by MAC address.
Basically I followed the guide on Polycom's site and used XML Notepad to copy and paste or edit as needed.
The only parts I specified were login information, voicemail settings, and line settings to have one call per line key but use two line keys per registration. This allowed everything to work for us. (Call waiting is checked in Manager for the user.)

if I remember correctly from playing around with the files teh phones create a backup file and and boot from those values if they find the file. If you setup one phone the way you want it you will just need to change the files name because it is MAC address.something and then you have all the settings you want in there. You might want to change inside the file the extension number it registers to but that should be all.
Like I said if my memory is right, but I played with a polycom SIP phone long time ago (early IPO R5.0) and got frustrated when it only worked like a single line phone without call waiting and dropped calls when trying to transfer.

I got one better for you.
Setup 2 phones manually and compare the files with notepad++ (freeware) because it can have the file side by side and highlight the differences, that way you can easily find all differences without breaking out in sweat with all the lines in there.

Hey Tom, please send me the doc as well....I have a customer who has a hosted service and is using Polycom IP phones. Sold him on switching to SIP trunks through the provider that brought me in (CBeyond)...by the way, anyone have experience with the CBEyond service on IPO?....was going to use a Switchvox or similar but sure would like to do this with IPO. Thanks a bunch...my email is...
