We are using Adobe Acrobat 5.0. The PDFWriter printer driver seems to work on all platforms except XP.

The closest we get to getting it to work is the Test Page. It actually creates a legitimate test page, but the file also sits in the queue with an error message and we get an error message saying the file was not created. Otherwise, the program we use to manipulate the driver will lock up and we have to CTL+ALT+DEL to break out of it.

Is there an update or patch that will allow the driver to function OK in XP, or is there some other tweaking that needs to be done?

Thanks in advance,
Steve

The newer version is 5.05, and the Adobe site has an upgrade to move you from 5.0 to 5.05.

It may be the problem you are having is that the "Distiller" is not installed, or was removed.

Uninstall Adobe.
Re-install.
Do the upgrade.

I am using adobe pdf writer here with no problems on over 10 xp boxes, i think you might have missed something for adobe not to be working. I have not upgraded to 5.05 yet either.
I'd do what bcastner suggested and do over.

good luck
