Anyone successfully using 5420s on 9.0 V2? I know that they aren't technically compatible, but wanted to see if anyone was.

What makes you think they "aren't technically compatible"?

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

Well, they stopped supporting them on release 8.0 no?

Realllly? They aren't listed as compatible on Avayas website for 9.1. Thats why I was asking, cause it didnt show them listed.

Let me ask this. Why in the heck aren't my Sp Dial, Log, Options, or label buttons on the bottom of the screen not showing up? Im fighting that issue, as well as the issue of then not being able to transfer to an outside line. They can hit transfer and dial internally, but cannot externally. It just goes "seized" and drops instantly, any ideas?

Reallllllly! The list of compatible phones in the 9.1 doc for IP500 V2 installation lists the 5420 as compatible. The marketing and product overviews might omit them as they are sold as new by Avaya anymore.

Meanwhile you probably have the phone set to call center mode. Have a look at the user guide in the IP Office Knowledgebase (

Reaaaaalllllllllllllyyyyyyyyyyy~! Haha, I just figured since it wasnt listed on the compatibility matrix, it wasnt. I must be mentally challenged. After 40 some odd installs of IP Office, I still can find things avaya can do to be really annoying. This is one of them. In any case, I know the phone isnt in Call center Mode. For a fact, as the phone just came off a working 6.0 box. And, in fact, the phone sitting right next to it, works fine when plugged into that location as well. I guess ill be hunting through Monitor for the next hour. Thanks anyways...i just didnt want to be looking down a path that didnt "technically" exist. ;)

Maybe its just me, but looking at this sheet is like a big "If, then" statement.

Avaya DS Digital Telephones (DS Ports)
These digital stations connect to the IP Office via DS ports. They are supported by all IP Office modes.

• 1400 Series: 1403, 1408, 1416
• 9500 Series: 9504, 9508
The following additional DS port phones are only supported in IP Office standard modes:

• 2400 Series: 2402, 2410, 2420.
• 3800 Series: 3810 Wireless phone (Only supported on external expansion modules).
• 4400 Series: 4406D, 4412D+, 4424D+ (Only supported on external expansion modules).
• 5400 Series: 5402, 5410, 5420.
• T3 Series: T3 Compact, T3 Classic, T3 Comfort.

40 installs, I'm impressed (not). I've got 200+ installs (lost counting) and just today I upgraded a system to 9.1 with 5610 & 5620 phones without a problem.
Maybe you have the wrong firmware or you have (ugh) BASIC mode or Server edition, then these phones are not compatible.

Hey buddy, wasnt trying to get into a pissing contest. You win the big dong contest bro! lol... I was just alluding to the fact that im not a noob in the IP Office world (9years now).

In any case, you are the man.

Side Note:I like how the instructions for taking a phone out of call center mode include hitting "options" to change it, although that option button wouldnt exist if it was in Call center mode. Funny isnt it? My point, I guess is that I wouldnt have known they could work without you, and for that, I commend you and your donginess. Cheers [thanks2]

In call centre mode the option button in only appears on the 3rd page of buttons. Change pages using the left and right arrow keys.
