Hi all,

Users in our business are racking up larger bills because they dial 0844 numbers instead of trying to find alternatives. Even when alternatives have been given to them they still do it out of convenience!!

What I'd like to do is add a shortcode to convert the number. So for Dell for example:

Code: 08444443262
Feature: Dial
Number: 08000282660

It doesn't want to work and I think it's because the system starts dialling the number as you press the buttons, rather than waiting until complete and then dailling.

Is there any way around this without setting a long dial delay?

Thanks

Dunc

Just bar calls to 0844 numbers. They will soon learn to use an alternative.

The number is most likely going to be matching a system shortcode after 4 digits, which then sends the dialled digits to the ARS which doesnt have the translation in it.

You could amend the dial delay count to 11 to match the number of digits in the code so it doesnt start checking until the full number has been entered by the user.

Alternatively create a directory of local numbers for places they dial and get them used to using the directory.

We considered that but there are other 0844 numbers we may need to dial.

I'll test with the dial delay count.

*edit*
Setting dial delay count to 11 made no difference.

Where did you made the shortcode?

In ARS or system shortcode?

My advise, make them in the ARS.

Code: 08444443262;
Feature: Dial
Number: 08000282660

Don't forget the ; 08444443262

In system shortcodes it does nothing.

In the ARS it connects but system status shows the connected caller ID as the 0844 number...

You're doing it wrong, I do this all the time and it never fails. The system goes for best match so bear that in mind, also if any prefixes are involved and/or user shortcodes :)

Use monitor and enable shortcodes in the call filter, see what happens and learn something on how IP Office treat shortcodes.
