Button Programming to dial number shows anonymous

Hopefully quick question here, but here is the situation:

We have a receptionist with button programming that dials an external number. The idea is that when a call is received by reception and they are asking for an external department (lets say IT) they can press that button and it dials the programmed number, which then rings the external IT number.

The problem that I am having is that when the receptionists do this, the IT group receives the call but its from Anonymous. Can I get it to forward some sort of number, either the original caller ID or the receptionists number?

If I am understanding the question correctly it sounds more like an issue with the service provider. CID is a function of the provider. If the IT doesn't get CID when the receptionist calls and it is an external number any caller id would be provided by the service provider depending on the type of external lines you have. If you have a PRI you can adjust the number sent. Same with SIP trunks. Both of those are also subject to the limitations placed on your service. Some providers will let you select any number while others only allow you to present numbers you own.

First of all you should check what cake is you send in this case.
