Upgrading an MXE 3300 from 6.0 SP 1 to 8.0

Hi All,

I have an MXE 3300 on 6.0 SP1 and I want to take it to Version 8, it has an SX 2000 on it as well.

Ive never done an upgrade before as fairly new to Mitel, can anyone assist with where to start or where to find out whether there are any interim upgrades to complete?

Is there a step by step guide?

Before you can upgrade to 8.0 you need to move all the SX2000 peripheral cabinet extensions to either IP phones or ASU II connected analog extensions/trunks on the MXe. Release 6.0 was the last release that supports peripheral cabinets. Once you have decommissioned the peripheral cabinets use the latest Software Installer to upgrade the 3300 to release 8.0.

P.S. You may want to wait for 8.0 SP1 or PR1 before upgrading we have found sone SIP trunk issues with 8.0 GM and had to revert back to release 7.2.

you will also need to make sure your SWAS is up to date , if you don't have active SWAS coverage you will only be able to go to MCD6.0SP3 (12.0.3.15)

I agree don't use the GA unless there is no choice

we are running it on our office system to evaluate new features but wont deploy to customers until the first fix pack is out

SX - what sip trunk problems were you having , ours are currently ok

Not sure about GM , I call first release general availability GA.
It's the first released to the public and more often than not is followed within a month or 2 by a Service pack to rectify issues that were only detected in the real world.
