Ive got several sites running IP406V2 (4.1(9)) with IP Phones there is no SCN between the sites

We are having huge issues with call quality and fading and clipping of calls on all sites.

I noticed that some of the 56 series phones are on a old firmware and have rebooted to update but it refuses to update.

I have checked the TFTP and File Writer address's and all are ok

Is there another way to force the update - ??

or does any body have any ideas on the call fading issues

Open monitor,

klick on; Status > IP Phones > select 5 max. if you run Manager tftp server. If u use a 3rd party tftp server you can select more, I always select 20 or so and wait untill the got back online. Beter safe then sorry.

Thanks Baz but that just resets the phone as well.

Are you using manager.
If so forget it. Fire up a 3rd party TFTP phone and retry.

>I have checked the TFTP and File Writer address's and all are ok

I bet you have the files on e CF card in he system.

I'd reckon that the files on the CF card are out of date.

open manager, open a config and set the TFTP server address back to 0.0.0.0 and save it back

Make sure that the manager working directory is is set to the manager directory

and then reboot the system

Take Care

Matt
If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.

no the files are coming from the manager directory

no cf card installed

what are you using as your TFTP SERVER????

What are you using for for routers between sites. Could be TFTP is blocked or if it is Cisco turn off the fix up for TFTP

currently using manager for tftp

its not the routers as some of the phones have upgraded

When you use manager as tftp then only 5 phone will upgrade at the same time
Use a 3th party tftp program for it

ACS - Implement IP Office
ACA - Voice Services Management

Women and cats can do as they please and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea!

it doesnt upgrade 1 phone let alone 5

thanks for the help on the tftp

any ideas on the call fading

Yep as said use something like the Avaya TFTP server or 3cdeamon.
Manager will only handle 5 upgrades then thats it. So this is no doubt why many have not upgraded.

Also manager doesn't always work if it detects another TFTP server on the network already, so if something else is activated the Manager doesn't act as TFTP server any more. Definitely use a third party application.
once the phones are the correct firmware see if the problems are still there then you can start troubleshooting the call problems if they still persist.

If you can't be good, be good at it!

Maybe you are running into this:

CQ54462
5602SW +IP terminals will not update firmware (Only on some terminals)

From TechBulletin93 this should be solved in 4.1.12(01).

It would explain why some of your terminals are on the correct firmware and others aren't all with the same setup.
