dear All,

Please I have an Avaya CM/SMGR and Sesssion Manager installed and I want to upgrade the platform from 6.2 to 6.3.
each application was installed in separate dell server.

Current version are:
CM:Software Load: R016x.02.0.823.0
SMGR:System Manager 6.2.12.0 Build Number 6.2.0.0.15669
Session Manager:Release: 6.2.4.0.624005

Please is there any recommendation. do I need a new license to be uploaded ?
Is there any requirements ?

You should be able to do that upgrade w/o licensing. If you have maintenance you should be entitled to the s/w for each. You'll need to upgrade System Platform and then the SMGR/CM template. Also, the order should be SMGR, SM and then CM.

Be careful. Check your license file for CM. They started putting a 'support end date' in it. If your support ended June 2016, then you can't install any CM patch released after June 2016. You can still install a 6.3 CM and patch it current before installing a license, but you'll be in license error mode and need to reboot every month.

You may just need a new license from PLDS if you have support. Whenever you renew your support, PLDS knows and you can download the same license as before but with a support end date in say 2019 or 2020 and you'll have no problem patching to 6.3.latest

Good point.. that's happened to me a few times with that support end date in the file.

to clarify all applications are installed using System platform. ( 6.2)

now we are upgrating to 7.1 virtual platform.

1/ the process to backup system platform ?
2/is the configuration of SMGR, SM and CM can be pushed to new version 7.1?
3/is teher any step by step document to move from system platfrom to AVP.

Thank you

Before you start any of this, I would verify you have access to plds.avaya.com, you will need all new licensing to go from 6 to 7. After you install your new 7.1 systems, you will need to upgrade all of your 6.x licenses from 6.x to 7.x. If you are even entitled to do so.

For the upgrade documents, check support.avaya.com and find the individual products. From these filter to Upgrades/Installs only and look at your upgrade paths.

Thank you AvayaredtTech

But please can yu clarify whish backup must be token ?

also If I take a backup of configuration of release 6 ( system platform), can I push it in the new avaya platform installed in AVP ?

is there a document that talk about step by step upgrade to move from Avaya systel platform to Avaya virtual platform
