FAX’s were working fine, they just all of the sudden stopped excepting Fax’s. Unable to FAX on G3v6 across multiple TN746B cards, and multiple brands of FAX machines. Only inbound Fax’s affected. Test calls can be heard on the FAX machines, however will not connect unless manually pressing send or connect. Current plan is to reboot the PBX, suspecting some type of corruption has occurred, if that doesn’t resolve the problem, then planning to upgrade the TN boards. Anyone had this issue before? Thanks in advance!

my error on the post - sending FAXs works..

Are analog phones ringing, maybe the ring generator has died.

Perform a list history to ensure that no-one has accidently changed any parameters.

check the sync paramters as this will affect faxes

do the ch sync po 1 command

[Started on Version 3 software 15 years a go]

Thanks for your input and suggestions - Here are the responses:

Yes - Analog phones ring.
No - Changes noted in list hist.
No - Old v6 - no option to ch sync po 1 - sync is Stratum:4, two DS1's are Primary and Secondary sync.

Are there settings somewhere in the system features I can verify?

Have you plugged in a set to one of the fax cords and see if it rings? I am guessing these are programmed as a "fax"? Have you tried programming these (at least one) to a 2500 set and see if it works then??

May just be a ring generator that is getting weak.

Yes - Plugged in a 2500 set at the FAX jack and it rings.
Stations are administered as 2500
Replace the TN2182B? Ring generator that is getting weak.

Again - Thanks all

V6 what box?? G3R, I, SI, ??? Post and i'll give you some things to test. This one may be a good starting place.

Code:

See if you have any errors come up from this test. Also I will look for more test ring generator related after you post what box we are working on.

System is a G3V6i.03.0.223.5

Not sure what the major and minor EXT-DEV is...

We have a spare TN2182B, looking to see if this can be hot swapped.

If you dial the FAX machine from another station on the PBX doe it answer? If it does, you may want to try changing the 'Distinctive Audible Alert' entry on page 2 of the station form.

Station to station calls to the FAX fail as well.

Tried changing Distinctive Audible Alert anyway, did not help.

Great ideas! Thanks..

Rebooting the PBX did not resolve the issue. An Avaya software corruption specialist is working on it now.

Still can't FAX - Also swapped from a TN746B to a TN742 v19 - Didn't resolve the problem.

Any more ideas?

Is this system wide or is it just one fax machine having the issue.

Not sure of the command on V6 I think maybe "ch base tone" or change tone.. If the tone have been changed the fax may not see the ring as a valid ring. You may need to experiment with this.

If just one fax make sure it is set to answer.

This is a system wide issue - Also effecting another v6. The ch base and ch tone do not exist in this v6, or at least at my level of login. Here are my ch options:

It maybe "change sys country" on a rel 6 system..

Sorry I dont have one to check.

One location just starting working for no reason, all FAXing is back to normal - Did a list history and there were no changes... The other location is still an issue.
