Hi everyone,

I've been browsing through the threads and haven't come across an answer to this scenario. I'm sure it must be something that I am or am not doing. I've swapped out a UC module from a customer site today. Prior to doing so, I made several backups using VM Pro Client. I am trying to restore said backups to the new UC module, after upgrading to the latest and greatest and ignition. For whatever reason, the new UC module is not seeing the backup in order for me to restore. I've tried placing the file in the backup folder using SFTP. I've tried placing the backup on a USB stick and opening from the web console. Nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am at the customer site on a Saturday and I'm really trying hard not to revert back to the old module.

Thanks in advance,

Ray

Put it in the folder other backups.
It is also located in the scheduled folder.
This should be the way.
If that does not work then or in the vmdata.mdb n opt/vmpro
Stop the service first before you do that.
All other files go in the folder located in the folder VM.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Thank you for the prompt reply. Everyone I work with raves about this site and the community and now I see why...

Do I place everything in the other backups folder? I have an unzippedarchive with 8 subfolders and 2 text files.

what did you backup when you did the backup?

for Vm Pro you need the .wav files and the call flows (.mdb)
then the Accounts, names and greetings folder

Hi Westi/Joe,

I performed backups using the utility in VM Pro Client (Administration>Preferences>General>Backup & Restore). I selected everything. When unpacked, I can see all of the .wav files, call flow(.mdb), users, etc. As per the previous suggestion, I placed all of these folders onto the UC Module in vmpro/backup/scheduled/otherbackups. I've also placed it in the immediate folder (that's the folder where I had found it originally on the first UCM). I'm in the web console under Settings>General and, when I click restore, it reports that there are no backups available.

UCM is crap, I know that doesn't help you much at this point but maybe someone from Avaya reads it.

You can try and copy and paste the files manually into the UCM and restore via the Client the .mdb call flows

Thanks Joe,

I'm slowly coming to that realization...lol.

Do I need to stop any of the services before I copy manually back in to the folders? I've already loaded the call flows back in to place.

And thanks to you as well for the help.

Ray

Put in the zip file.

Hi tlpeter,

That's what I had done originally without success. I placed the .tar.gz file in the otherbackups folder. I then tried it in the immediate folder. The web interface kept saying there were no backups available. I am 99% positive that both UCMs are the same version.

Thank you,

Ray

I had noticed in the past (with the one UCM that I had experience with) that I could only restore the backup to the unit I made it on. CRAP UCM (oops i am repeating myself)
You can try and copy the files manually into the correct folders as it seems that they regular restore is no good.
Worth a try, better than using the old UCM if that is not working well either

Thanks, guys, for your help. I ended up re-installing the old UCM, grabbing a new backup (fourth one) and placing it into the all of the folders of the new UCM. I waited an hour for the module to 'settle down' (crazy cpu usage) and was able to find the backup using the restore function. Four hours later, we are back to where we need to be, for now.

Thanks again,

Ray

Good to hear that it worked.
Welcome to UCM hell [hairpull3]and thanks for letting us know the resolution of the problem. Next time someone looks to find one they will find this thread and try to do the same thing.

Let me give you your first star
