Happy Friday!
We just recently setup UMS on our IP 500 with VP pro all at the latest and greatest. I have read through all the doc's on knowledge base and setup according to those. I am able to get the voicemail messages in my Outlook inbox but it is not controlling my message indicating light on my 5610. I have it setup in IPO to forward messages, I have it setup to log into the domain for VMPro and MAPI is setup. I have outlook open on the voicemail server for that account and do not see it sending the voicemail messages though. I believe that is where my issue lies.

If you set it to forward it doesn't light the lamp on the phone, set it to copy if you want it to do that, and also if you log outlook into the account that VM uses that will stop it working, you need to close that outlook session :)

I've just bought a brand new car and on the way out of the dealership the engine seized, they want £2000 paid in advance to look at it which they will keep if they can find a way to blame me for it......Remind you of anything :)

In fact I think UMS overrules the forward thing, ignore that but having outlook logged in to the VM account does often stop it working :)

So, I just shut down outlook on my vm server and I'm still getting vm to email. knowledge base says this

• Mailbox access using the telephone, visual voice or Phone Manager is done against voicemail messages in the email account. Therefore some actions offered by the non-email interfaces cannot be used as they have no email equivalents.
• Messages stored in an email account cannot be saved.
• Undeleting messages using **8 from the telephone does not work for voicemail messages stored in exchange.
• Access using UMS IMAP and UMS web voicemail is not supported.
• Messages are not subject to Voicemail Pro housekeeping.
• Only voicemail messages in the inbox are recognized. If a message is moved to another mailbox folder it is no longer visible to the voicemail system.
• Message waiting indication (MWI) is supported.

But my MWI doesn't want to work. It seems as though it's configured for MAPI it's still ending them via SMTP?

Don't shut the Outlook server down just don't be logged into the outlook client on the account that VM uses to send the messages :)

Yeah, I just shut down outlook client on the voicemail server. I can't shut the server down, no access to that server :) The voicemail messages are coming through from the account we setup to use but everything that is outlined with using UMS with Exchange 2007 isn't working for us, like using visualvoice with it and the MWI. It seems that the voicemail messages are still coming from the voicemail pro message store, not the exchange message store.

Does your user for the outlook have full permissions to all the mailboxes in exchange?

It didn't, kwing, but it does now and still no light. I am going to reinstall VM Pro this weekend. It still seems to be sending everything via SMTP

I think you will need to get MAPI working, as I believe VmPro uses MAPI to detect voicemails in the Exchange mail store.

correct it does use mapi. remove the settings in the IP Office voicemail pro under the control panel.

Check you have Enterprise Exchange 2007 or Enterprise CAL's. Unified Messaging on the exchange server is only enabled at enterprise level.

Stupid thing will still let you configure it and give you the player in Outlook.

kwing i owe you a beer!!! you were right with the full permissions and taking the SMTP settings out of IP Office Voicmail Pro under control panel. Once both of those If I could give you 100 stars I would, meanwhile have 2!!! Also, jamie, we only have the standard edition Exchange running and it's working, FYI

Just FYI, if you do not have Enterprise CALs (even on Exch2007 standard edition) you are violating the Microsoft agreement - Enterprise CALs are required to use the Unified Messaging feature of Exchange 2007, which UMS does.

They could have Enterprise CALs, we are a Microsoft gold partner. I just don't do anything with our Exchange server, we have another engineer who's baby that is, I'm just the phone guy! :)

I only know this as i tried to get UMS working on ours with the same result as you, but we only have standard edition. I didn't realise Enterprise was required. ie I didn't RTFM properly!!!!!!
