Where does the UCM get its time from? I am trying to understand the logic why the only way it seems that our IPO can get an updated time is by a reset of the IPO (I tried a reset of the UCM first). Before (when running VMPro) it would just update to the PC time. Just trying to figure out the best practice here.

ucm by defaut is set to use NTP to obtain its time form the IPO
the best practice for setting timeon the IPO of for it to obtain its time from an NT server either on the local networj or n the internet pool.ntp.org is a good choice for an internet server

Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

What IPGuru said...

By default the UCM is set to pull time from the IP500 (note the default NTP 169.254.0.1 IP address, this equates to the IP500V2 chassis)

Set the IP500V2 itself to use SNTP as a time source, put in correct IP address (if NTP is company internal), or DNS and FQDN if external NTP is used.

Yes, you can set the IP Office to get its time from the Voicemail Pro which will get its time from the server on which it is running.

But when the voicemail is running on a server that itself is running inside the IP Office you can probably see how that would create a self-referring spiral into oblivion.

As said, leave the UCM set to its default of getting the time from its host IP Office and point the IP Office at an internet tine server.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.
