I originally posted this in the Meridian forum, but I later found that I bought a Norstar that says Meridian on it. The model number is NT5B01.

I'm wondering if it's possible to have a priority trunk or perhaps even two. The KSU supports 6 phone lines. Line 1 is an unlimited calling plan, while the other lines are on pay-per-minute VoIP plans.

Here's an example of what I want to do:

Let's say no lines are in use right now.

Now, Joe picks up his phone, and dials 9 to reach an outside line. The Norstar searches and finds line 1 is available, and routes him to a line 1 dialtone.

Joe is 10 minutes into his phone call, and Mary picks up the phone to make an outgoing call. She dials 9 to reach an outside line. The Norstar searches for available lines and finds line 1 is unavailable, so it checks line 2 and finds an available line.

Now, Joe who is on Line 1 hangs up his phone and releases the line allocated for his call. Mary is still on her phone call.

Now Jane picks up her phone to make an outbound call. She dials 9, and the Norstar finds line 1 available, and routes her to a line 1 dialtone.

In other words: I want it so when 9 is dialed, the first thing it does before searching for other lines is check if line 1 is available.

Thank you!

P.S. Model number is NT5B01, 6 incoming phone lines and 16 extension phones. It says Meridian and Northern Telecom, but it appears to be a Norstar phone.

Program all your lines in pool A, when you hook up the lines put line one in the line six position on the system. Norstar hunts from the last line up on outgoing calls so the first person to dial 9 will grab line 1 all the time if it available.

Thanks! Will this work correctly with Call Forward Busy? That is how I intend to set up a hunt group:

Line 1 would be the number people call. If busy, route to line 2. If line 2 is busy, route to line 3. If line 3 is busy, route to line 4. If line 4 is busy, route to line 5. If line 5 is busy, route to line 6. If line 6 is busy, provide a busy tone. (This would be using my VoIP provider's own features. The Norstar shouldn't figure out that it was forwarded)

Since I don't plan on having 6 inbound calls at a time that should work great. Or will it confuse the Norstar?

Thanks again!

The line hunting is provided by your telco, Norstar doesn't care how the lines ring in, you might have to use feature *81 to move the lines around so it looks like they start coming in from top to bottom.
