Is there some way to place a direct trunk access button on a 2616? Here's what I'm trying to do:

My customer has long since disconnected a bunch of analog trunks, but the trunks were never removed from the PBX, and periodically they hit "dead air" trunks and have to retry their call. I've already tried grabbing the ACOD and doing a DNB listup to see if I can determine the phone numbers associated with each trunk, but to no avail -- whomever set up this PBX didn't plan for the future very well.

So now I'm trying to see if I can put a key on a phone to directly access an individual trunk to see if I get dial tone from it. It will be slow, but at this point I and my regular Nortel tech support people are out of options. Can anyone tell me how this can be done? Can I use the SCR key somehow? Your help would be much appreciated!

1ST MAKE SURE YOUR RDB IS SET FOR RRB SEARCH TYPE, THEN CHANGE YOUR CLS TO UNR. THEN ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS DIAL THE ACOD OF THE RDB UNTIL YOU HIT THE DEAD TRUNKS.
OR YOU CAN GO INTO LD 36 ONCE YOU SET YOUR PHONE FOR MAINTENCE AND DIRECT SELECT THE MEMBERS

hey,ld 21-ltm,cust 0,rout # of these analog trks.this will give you the TN's if you don't already have them.

ld 36-at the "." type: call -space- tn# with spaces-(Ex 52 0 0 2)then enter.you will see the prompt "call" enter a test center #(this can be any phone with a disply that has caller ID.I use my desk set or cell phone.you don't need to insert 9>just the 7 or 10 digit #.The switch will place a call from that trunk to the phone you designated. This gives you 2 pieces of info.1>the actual # of the line and that it is calling out correctly from your PBX.If you recieve back a trk006 error it means that the trunk is in use.skip it and try again.Better to do this when the office is empty but you can't cut people off so don't worry.Out the Tn's that are not active and it should resolve callers hitting trunks that only exist in software.sorry for the long explaination-hope it is what you are looking for.

If you have an att. console you can press lpk, barge in then enter acod and member number followd by # to check each trunk.

Thanks, all for your responses!

On jimeec's posting, I think this will put me on the right track, but please clarify -- I haven't used LD 36 before, and in fact it isn't even listed in my software input/output guide. What I think I'm seeing is this:

LD 36
REQ: CALL 3 0 0 1

Have I got this right? Or is the REQ=CALL and the TYPE=TN?

you need to enter trk which is 875 on your dial pad, then tn and #

last response was to use maint set,I see what you want to do so disregard.

For jimeec who has left:
Once you type "LD36" the system responds with a "."
Now type in "CALL (TN #)" then return
the system will respond with "DN ?"
Now type in the phone number you want that trunk to call. If you get an error the TN is OOS. If it calls out to that phone and that phone has Caller ID you'll get the phone # associated with the trunk.

Clever! Thanks for the clarification. I'll try that!
