Trouble With Outbound SIP Calls 3

Yesterday installed new IP Office v2 9.0 with SIP trunks over a DIA with a carrier that uses a MetaSwitch. The carrier does not require authentication as we are on a dedicated Ethernet over copper connection to the carrier.

Trunks are up, and we are able to receive inbound calls, but cannot make outbound calls. It looks like (through a monitor trace) that the IP Office is killing the call after the user has dialed 5 or 6 digits.

The carrier says that they are getting invalid URI info. Apparently the IP Office is sending the extension number@xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, even though I have the users SIP settings all for a valid DID number.

I'm in hopes I can connect with an IPO SIP Guru here. I'm happy to pay for the help.

You haven't adjusted your shortcodes/ARS to account for the fact SIP needs to dial en bloc, possibly other things wrong too, have you done SIP before? :)

I have about a year's experience with my own SIP trunks on my office system, but I will say that there are a number of aspects of SIP that I don't understand.

My short code for dialing out is

9N
Dial
N"@xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx"
Line Group ID 31 (This is the GROUP number I assigned to the SIP URI outbound GROUP)

How did you setup your URI's?

Here's one example of how to:

And as Andy says, you probably need to fix the ARS and dial codes.

Kind regards

OK. Slick how you inserted that picture. I would do the same if I could figure out how...

My SIP URI under SIP LINE looks very similar to yours. My inbound and outbound groups are 30 and 31 instead of 17 and 99. I have the *'s so I can receive any DID digits.

I didn't touch ARS because of how my dial 9 short code is set up. I don't think outbound calls are touching ARS. Might that be my issue?

That's your issue. Point it at the ARS (50:MAIN) probably.

Kind regards

Gunnar

And for the image, that's not so difficult, just upload to an online storage and paste the url in after clicking the image icon.

Kind regards

9N
Dial
N"@xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx"
Line Group ID 31 (This is the GROUP number I assigned to the SIP URI outbound GROUP)

You need to make the system wait until you have finished dialling before sending the call to SIP, 2 ways (both need to be in ARS, also assuming you don't pass the 9):

N;
Dial
N"@xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx"
Line Group ID 31

or

XXXXXXXXXX (this assumes you know the number of digits they are going to dial, in this example 10)
Dial
N"@xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx"
Line Group ID 31

OK. So I have made the adjustments to my ARS. I now have it programmed;
CODE TELEPHONE NUMBER FEATURE LINE GROUP ID
911 911"@xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" Dial Emergency 31

0N 0N"@xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" Dial 3K1 31

1N 1N"@xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" Dial 3K1 31

XN XN"@xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" Dial 3K1 31

XXXXXXXXXXN N"@xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" Dial 3K1 31

I left my dial 9 short code the same since that's what the instructions for the IPO to MetaSwitch say to do, but I have selected 50:MAIN for the LINE GROUP ID.

Now the users can dial all of the digits, but then they get a "beep - beep - beep - beep waiting for line error.

You have missed off the ; that I posted, that's important, also don't put dial 3k1 :)

Also MetaSwitch aren't IPO experts. I wouldn't put the "@XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX" in there at all actually, it isn't required really and especially not in system shortcodes, if you do decide to use it put it in ARS :)

[bigsmile]

Kind regards

Gunnar
