hmm .. im using window xp pro ..p4 ..any more information needed ?

Hi,

Right click the AVG icon in the system tray and open AVG Antivirus, then run a complete test over the machine.
If it offers the ability to quarantine the virus, let it do so, but if it says it is in the C:\System Volume Information\_Restore folder (or a sub folder of this) get back to me as it is a little tricky to remove from here.

Howdy:

Disable System Restore.. no trick to it at all.. Now, run your av scan.. It should come up clean.. re-enable System Restore.. All done !!

Murray - How do I do that? I am running *choke* Windows ME.

ANY help will be appreciated.

I don't have a WinME box to hand, but try right clicking my computer, properties, System restore tab and untick "Enable System Restore", acknowledge the messages that windows will tell you it is a bad thing to do, reboot, do full virus scan to ensure the system is clean and then re enable it again.

I hope I am entering this at the right place - I have that trojan virus showing up on my computer have run avg several time and says none found - it does say it is in volume file just as described in response from programmer - can you tell me how to get rid of it? Thanks

Just follow the instructions above to clear the restore points in XP/Me (also applies if you have third pary system rollback software such as GoBack installed) then run a full virus scan.

Thank you, got to run this again today after reading your post, have one more question, we have our computer set up with administrator and 3 sign-ons. When it scanned, it only scanned administrator and one sign on. Can you tell me how to get to the other two to check them? It located 10 trojans all from same comapny so I am thinking it came from a pop-up add. Thank you for your help.
