Mitel 3300 version 8.0.5.12
IP Phones: 5224, 5235, 5340

Is there a way to program a “single” button in the 3300 Mitel that does the following: [Transfer, Extension, Release]?

Any suggestions, advices, will be much appreciated.

programming a key as a DSS/BLF key for a DN will do the transfer and DN dialing, but not release. That's as close as I think you'll get.

You're looking for the secretarial transfer key.

Line Type Secretarial:

Works like a DSS/BLF key except completes Blind transfer.

If you program a secretarial key though, will that key also ring/flash (depending on how you set it) when the number it is programmed with receives a call?

it does as far as I know. maybe give it a bash and see what it does

I think it does too, will test to confirm though.

What I have done in this situation is advise the user to program a speedcall for the numbers they most commonly will transfer to, that way when they want to transfer a call they just need to press the transfer key then the speedcall key, job done.

You can set the Secretarial key to NO RING. Yes, it will flash with an inbound call.

Did you look in the help files?

Once you know what to look for, the help files are an excellent source of daily nutients, ummm info.

Just a thought.. If you werent using a call forward always on that handset, could you program a call forward always key?

Although I havent tested it, I think its possible that you could press the call foward always key on a ringing phone, and it will immediatly go through to the call forward always answerpoint.

You would then have to press it again to turn it off. But its good if your leaving the office, you could just call forward your calls at a push of a button.

Thank you for all your great suggestions. The reason, I would like to do a [transfer, extension, release] in a single button, is to transfer an incoming call to the user voice mail box in a one shot.
currently what i have programmed is an autodial.
Example:
incoming call for ext 2020
assistant [ext2021] picks up his line
incoming caller wants to leave a vm for ext2020.
assistant presses [transfer] [autodial=transfer to vm], she dials ext 2020, and then release.

Secretarial flashes, rings, and assistant can answer and transfer, but still has to do the three steps process.

Our vendor told us 'it CAN'T be done'..but there is got to be a way. Avaya had it, and Mitel is such a good system, it has to be it :) I will keep playing with the 'Line Type' :)

thanks again, and if anyone has other suggestion, please let me know. :)

See what you get for being too vague in your request?

OK, now that I know your REAL request I can make a suggestion. It's not 100% of what you want but its closer than what you have.

Assuming you are using embedded mail (if not, GIGO)

depending on the number of users you have you may have to burn some licenses to create enough transfer extensions.

Otherwise you can use hunt group pilots.

Create Exts/pilots that have the #key followed by the Extension number. eg ext 1234 pilot #1234

Use the routing always form to route the pilot directly to voicemail. The voicemail will pickup and play the greeting of the ext.

The process is to press transfer, dial #1234, then release. One less step then you had before and no waiting for VM response.

kwbMitel,

What does the Visual Voice Mail Hunt Group Field do in the Voice Mailbox Config? (Specify the hunt group number that the Voice Mailbox belongs to.)

We do it a little bit differently, but w/same result and w/fewer resources depleted. (SX2000/3300)

1. Create a Multiline instrument (say a 4150) on a vacant PLID (assume here we have a SX2K or 3300 w/TDM per bay)

2. Create an unused, non-DID DN on the make-believe Multiline instrument, make it some un-dialable number, a throw-away number, etc... anything

3. Give the 4150 a PKM on the 2nd channel

4. This instrument + PKM will not physically exist, only in programming.

net result so far you now have SIXTY-ONE nifty-keen spots to program some tricks and the SS4150 + PKM requires no licenses, tho you have depleted your Multiline (TDM) set count by 1 and your PKM allotment by 1. Shouldn't be a big deal.

4. Begin programming Single Line No Ring key appearances of * plus 4 digits for each extn for which you want to have the single button "dump to voicemail" feature

5. Go to your Call Reroute Assignment form and program ALL of your new *xxxx extensions to call reroute always to voice mail

6. Then on the various admin sets who are responsible for these Bozos you program single button CDE speed dial numbers with their extensions pre-pended with *

OPERATION:
(a) Admin takes a call for Bozo ext 1234
(b) caller asks to be transferred to Bozo's VM
(c) Admin presses Trans/Conf button
(d) Admin presses Bozo's "special" (*xxxx) speedcall key & hangs up.

TaDA!!!!

Alternately the Admin could transfer/Conf and manually dial * xxxx and release. Either way.

MIMB,

Yes the "Burn some licenses" reference in my earlier post alludes to the use of phantoms sets with key lines.

A 5224 with Dual PKM provides 119 softkeys.

If the system is under 100 stations however, I recommend the hunt group method. I had some bozo delete my phone with the keys on it one time. Once bitten twice shy.

Bozo certainly gets around, doesn't he.

That's why you set a name in teldir on the phone, call him DONT_DELETE! or ASK_SYSMGR or DELETE_&_UR_FIRED
Then add it to the Associated Dir No. Assignment form. Then burn one of the key apps make it a MWI appearance of some useless nbr and set the MWI flag. Finally stick it in trk svc form as an answer point for a non-existent TS nbr and a trunk label of KYMFHO. If BOZO wants to take it out, make him earn it.

THANK YOU! MitelInMyBlood, I can tell you that I love you, but that would be tooo personal..hehe.. I am just happy this is working!!... we have a vendor, that most of the time, said.."IT CAN'T be DONE'..what a liar!

By the way, our unified voice mail system is exchange 2007. With this ....we should cut over..to the new vm soon!

MIMB,

Thanks for the laugh, I don't think even I would figure out how to delete that phone!

Not simple though, I prefer the KISS method

Tommylux, I never answered your question on Visual VM.
Only sets like the 5340, 5330, 5235, 5240 can use visual voicemail. If you have one of those you can see the messages via buttons on the phone and choose which you want to play and you also have navigation keys such as skip, delete, keep, etc.

If you have one of the above sets give it a try, you'll like it.

Tnx for the star Zulma. Good to know I helped brighten someone's day. Vendors will commonly tell you it can't be done, whether it's just because they don't want to take the time, or don't want to support something that's not in the book or just plain haven't a clue. Doing PBX work has been a rewarding career and a good living for me and will no doubt continue to be a supplement to my income as I begin to think about retirement in another year or two and bouncing great-grandchildren on my knee and possibly becoming one of the door nazis at Sam's Club. >>grin<<

MIMB..you are going to kill me...it was working fine until i decided to clean some of the previous 'tests/attempts' i programmed. i checked the setttings over and over. checked cos and cor, changed a played a bit with different extensions, same result. Please helppppppp...meee. Any suggestions??

if i press from any phone: * plus 4 dig ext, i get 'ACCESS DENIED'
if attempt Trans/Conf *1234, blinks and nothing happens.
