First of, bit of flattery, great forums - I'm finding myself stalking these forums more and more of late. :)

We recently upgraded our IP Office 500 software to 4.2(11) and since then, our 30 port digital extension (running 6.2(11)) is no longer doing tone dialling, the 8port module installed in the base PBX however is working fine.

E.g. you can join a webex, asks you to enter your code but you dial, it doesn’t make the tone sounds, and the other side doesn’t get anything (get the sounds normally on the 8).
Same happens with any automated attendent.

To confirm it was the digital extension unit and not the phone/extension I've done:
Works: Extension 39467 on 8 Port (on Phone 1)
Doesn't work: Extension 39467 on 30 Port (on Phone 1)
Works: Extension 39468 on 8 Port (on Phone 2)
Doesn't Work: Extension 39468 on 30 Port (on Phone 2)
Works: Extension 39468 on 8 Port (on Phone 1)
Doesn't work: Extension 39467 on 30 Port (on Phone 2)

I think that would cover all testing we could do with the specific phones/extensions?

Anyone got any other ideas?

Thanks

what did you upgrade from? Did you also upgrade the 30 Port Module?

There is an interim software build 3.2.99 you should go to first for the modules before 4.2.11

Upgraded from 4.1(12) directly to 4.2(11).
And yes, upgraded the 30 Port Module as well at the same time.

Okay but was your expansion module on 4.1 before or did you notice?

1st thing to do is hard reboot the exp mod.
next downgrade it to 3.2 and then upgrade to 4.2.x (only the exp mod not pbx)
then hard reboot again

I reckon that there is some wierd fault in the firmware that causes this.

I have had a number of sites where *properly* upgraded unit exhibit this issue, but I've never been able to pin it down further.

Take Care

Matt
I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

Thanks - I'll give this a go tonight.

matt, i have had the same thing, units that i have personally upgraded and know went through 3.2.999 still somehow lose dtmf.

one happened last month, and the upgrade was done in march last year! reflashed the modules, all ok again

everything. apart from the importance of depth in a squad. and what a chequebook looks like......

Problem solved, hard reboot got it back up and running! :)

Thanks all for your help.

if it happens again i would suggest reloading the 3.2.999 software, you may find a reboot only fixes temporarily :)
