Everyone,

I recently joined a telecom team administering Avaya switches in 5 cities. Home office has a S8720, V13. My co-worker installed a TN746B 16 port analog line circuit pack. The switch shows the card listed in its slot on "list config all". An analog extension was assigned to port 1 and port 9 and desksets were cross connected to the ports. There is dial tone at each of the desksets. "display st xxxx" shows the analog port assigned to the extension.

The problem is the new analog extensions cannot dial other extension, cannot dial out on "9" and cannot receive calls. Outgoing attempts on the phone get a fast busy.

We have tried another TN746B card. My manager has tried busy/release. I have removed the translations and reinstalled the card. I have checked Avaya on-line documentation and the TN746B appears to be supported for the S8720.

These cards are used in-house cards that we got from another of our locations. It is possible that one card is bad but both seems not very likely.

Any suggestions on what to troubleshoot next? I can give further information if this is not enough to troubleshoot from. Thanks in advance. You live in exciting times when you work in Telecom.

Sounds like a COR/COS issue to me. Check these fields against a working number, and see if they match. My guess is, the new ones have 1 in both fields.

84Mike,

Kind of you to reply. That is what I thought too. I looked at working analog extensions yesterday. I changed the COR to 7, which is international in our system. 1 is standard. I still got a fast busy.

Put a trace on the station (list trace station xxxx) and post it here.

dadmin1,

Can these extensions dial other internal extensions? Do they ring/answer when you call them? What type of analog devices are you using on these extensions? Sorry, lots of questions and no answers... [Thumbsup2]

Is it possible that the cross connects are on the wrong posts, and you are actually getting dial tone from a TTI port?

4merAvaya,

Thanks for getting back to me. here is what I get.

LIST TRACE

time data

16:54:15 TRACE COMPLETE station 4465 cid 0x0

SloTCMS30,

Cannot dial internal. Just get a fast busy. Using an 8102 White deskset. (collectors item)

84mike and all,

We have a winner. 84mike, as you were posting I tried to remove the translations and instead of assigning a port in ASA I went to the extension and TTIed it in. It worked. I can dial extensions and can receive calls.

This is a 16 port card. The 110 block has a standard 24 port desi strip on it. The port assignments for the TN746B skip terminals on the 110 block. It is 4 on, skip 4, 8 on, skip 4 and 4 on.

What I was assigning as 02B0809 was in fact 02B0805. Looking at "display ext xxxx" after TTIing showed the true port number the deskset was cross connected to. The PBX did a better job of finding the right port than I did.

So 84Mike, you were right. I was on an unassigned port all the time and the card was working fine.

Thank you all for your time and attention on this issue. you all have been very kind.

Regards, dadmin1
