Hi,

BCM 50, Installed for about 9 months, been having problems with Line Monitoring Service (lms) and Time Service (tmwservice).

Vendor unable to resolve.

At the suggestion of Nortel support to resolve the Time Service issue, recently patched to:

BCM050.073-CORE
BCM050.081-SOFTWARE MANAGEMENT
BCM050.083-CUMULATIVE

No change, the services die when trying to start with a:
10112 - Line Monitor Service (lms) has stopped unexpectedly and could not be restarted by service manager. This will affect the Line Monitor in BCM Monitor.

Any thoughts? The LMS isn't the end of the world, but the Time Service is preventing me from setting the correct time on the phones, need to select "tanzania" as the time zone to get close, the time isn't being picked up on the inbound calls (PRI / Caller ID).

Would love to hear your thoughts.

Thanks,

Matt

I had the same problem. For me it was an IP address/Gateway mismatch (oops, fat fingered the wrong address and messed everything up!). Here are the resolution instructions I received from Nortel:
BCM50 Time Will Not Change
There is an interaction between the IP system and time/date change.
To resolve the problem:
1. Launch Element Manager
2. Administration->General->Service Manager
? Check the status of 'tmwservice' service. This is likely stopped, resulting in inability to change the date and time.
? Go to Configuration->System->IP Subsystem
? Review the Default Gateway setting.
? Correct the Default Gateway to match the required Default Gateway.
? If the Default Gateway is not populated, or is a dummy/factory default, which does not tie in with the IP address of the BCM, then please correct this.
? For example, before the change:
? IP 10.10.10.51
? mask 255.255.252.0
? Default Gateway 192.168.1.1
? Depending on the BCM type, change the default gateway. If you have a BCM50e, the correct default gateway is that of the on-board router.
? For example, after the change:
? IP 10.10.10.51
? mask 255.255.252.0
? Default Gateway 10.10.10.52
? However with a BCM50, if no physical Default Gateway exists, modify default gateway so it has a dummy default gateway that reflects the correct IP subnet.
? For example, after the change:
? IP 10.10.10.51
? mask 255.255.252.0
? Default Gateway 10.10.10.1
You will lose connection as you make the change. Reconnect.
3. Launch Element Manager
? Administration->General->Service Manager
? Check the status of 'tmwservice' service
? This is likely still stopped.
? Start the service
? Check it is now 'Running
4. Modify the time/date as required.
? This should now modify okay.

Jason,

Awesome.

I don't know what caused the default gateway reverted back to the 192.168.1.1 address, I had changed it to the "real" DFGW at install.

A simple, easy fix. For that you get a star.

Thank you very much!
