Doorphones going off line

I have a bcm 400 with 4 doorphones and 4 associated DOCs. Intermittently the doorphones will ring no answer when you call them from inside the house. Then they all return to normal. My expectation is the doorphones should always answer no matter what. I do not think they are all on the same DSM32 card. I have changed one doorphone (the most important one) and waiting to see the resolution. Is this a sympton of another larger issue?

Nothing in the alarm logs worth noting.

"Intermittently the doorphones will ring no answer "
I assume you mean when you Intercom a door phone you hear endless ringing on your end.
That's like what happens when you intercom an IP set and it's not plugged in.
What happens if you then go and press the button on that door phone being called, will it work to call or chime?
How soon after does it correct itself?
I doubt replacing 1 will help since they all have the same issue.

If you prove they are all on the same DSM then choices would be:
Loose AMP cable, not on straight & tight
Too hot in room or cabinet fan not working
Dusty MBM, not likely in a house but maybe if it was elsewhere at one time.
Power Down, reseat it
Bad MBM, swap it out
Hard Drive failing - but usually voicemail stopping is the signal

I think only station MBM's paired with trunk ports use a fan on the back of it.

I would probably just swap out the MBM since they are cheap these days.

Good luck on that one!

This customer has a crestron system. When you press a doorphone, somehow it triggers the cameras and brings up the gate display on the crestron system. I am thinking someone has tapped the doorphone in a way to signal the crestron system. As such it is causing trouble. When I open the DOCs there are many extra pairs of wires attached which I am hesitant to touch.

Sounds like relay's on the DOC going to Crestron system to activate camera's.
Since the all go to the Crestron then there is a loop, perhaps remove the relay wires on one door phone (at a time), test for a few days or until it proves the others are still having the issue. If after removing each one from the equation one at a time and still issues maybe the Crestron has an issue, maybe creating some temp short to knock them off line. If during the test 3 work then one door phone is the cause.

when you press the doorphone, the camera video automatically is called up on the crestron in wall screens. The doc relay will open the gate. I believe the crestron installer has put a pair of wires on the doc data pins to trigger the cameras. This is probably causing the problem. I am curious if anyone else has seen this, seems like the answer is no.

You relocated the main door phone off the MBM, so was there issues with all or just the other 3?
How often does it happen? daily? weekly?

You need to have those relays disconnected be it just for testing, or a few days or depending how often the issue occurs.
Maybe disconnect one door phone entirely for awhile too in case it's mobo is short circuiting.

This will determine right away who side needs to then carry on troubleshooting.

Maybe it's the gate's cable? it's the only one that is extended outside and also under ground, check for corrosion on the wires/terminals...check all door phones too.

Since it's a house I be curious as to why door phones, mansion?
