TIME RE- VERTED BACK TO 8/25/97 ON 406V2

Hello all, subject tell the story. last evening the system rebooted and now displays 00:00 8/25/97 as the current time and date. I have gone and changed the time server settings to different ip,'s reboot and same.
i have set at 0.0.0.0 and mANUALLY CHANGE IT, it does not change. it's a 406v2 at 5.0(20) no calls can be made in or outbound. the lines are working b4 the system. the clock does not change at all. Any ideas?

I think out is broken and the date you see could be the manufactures date.

Have you tried to default the unit to see if that makes any difference? I would try that.

You caused me to open up my old 406 V2 unit to check as I recalled that there is a battery on the motherboard. It plays a role in updating the realtime clock even when power to the unit is removed. I'm recalled it from a conversation with a tech on how Avaya had a way to disable any power draw on the battery in the units it shipped since otherwise they might be sitting in their boxes in warehouses for several months draining the battery. The reboot may have exposed that the battery is dead.

If that's the problem, unfortunately the battery in question is not replaceable (unless you want to get very very impressive with desoldering/soldering).

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

thank you all. i did default the system and made no difference. i will take it oos and open to check for a battery. good thing i have a 500v2 8.0 standing by.

The battery wouldn't prevent the system from making and taking calls though, so I think it has other issues of which this is a symptom

Well done AM, I read the headline issue and missed the small print. Yes, this unit has bigger problems than the time. Focus on those first.

I had a IP406 that showed the same date too a couple of months ago. It was possible to make incoming and outgoing calls, though, so this might be just as information if the unit proves to be broken...

When you open up an IP400 there is a yellow IC marked "FIT YOUR BATTERYPACK" on the motherboard.
The IC itself is manufactured by STMicroelectronics and is called:
M4T28-BR12SH
TIMEKEEPER®
SNAPHAT
LITHIUM BATTERY

Sorry sizbut, but you can click the IC off, no need to solder and you can order it from the internet for a few bucks.
