Tie trunk does not allow transfers

Hello,

I have a NEC IPX 2400 with a T-1 tie to a ShoreTel system. I am able to send and receive calls across the tie. My problem is that when a call that is established across the tie is transferred it either bounces back to the person trying to make the transfer immediately or gets dropped. Is there an "allow transfer" permission that needs to be set on the tie trunk?

Thanks

Is the call being transfered in the 2400 or the shoretel? If it is being dropped by the 2400 then I would start by looking at the trunk restrictions for the Tie line, if the phone you are transferring to does not have access to the tie route then the call will bounce or drop.

Hi smoom,

I tried to send a reply last night but the site was acting flakey.

Here is what happens. I call from the ShoreTel to the 2400. The person on the 2400 transfers the call to another extension on the 2400. The call immediately bounces back to the person making the transfer.

Thanks

Hello All,

I have been digging through the NEC manuals but am having trouble finding a trunk restriction that would prevent transfers. Could someone point me in the right direction? Could it be associated with Least Cost Routing settings?

Thanks again.

It sounds like you do not have trunks in a different tenant than the stations and that there is a restriction in transferring from one tennant to another. check the tennants on the trunks and stations and see my hunch is correct.

PLease post the settings for ARTD on the tie trunk route.

Hi,

My experience with the NEC has been limited to setting up extensions and such, never had to deal with trunks. I am familiar with Command mode and have Matworx32 installed. What is the CM I should use to get the ARTD settings?

Thanks

Are you sure this is a 2400? Matworx32 is for the 2000IPS. Also, ARTD is the command for route data on a 2400.

I am sorry, you are correct I do have a NEAX 2000 IPS.

Look at command 36 the tie line route and your voice routes ned to be set to each other.

All the trunk routes are at default which is to restrict. How can I verify which route is assigned to the Tie? I have two T-1 originally set up for calls, then added the T-1 tie to the second system.

Thanks

I got it fixed. The problem was with the trunk route restrictions set by CM360 as smoom suggested. I used the NEAX 2000IPS Cheat Sheet for Basic T1 Assignment from the links on this site to determine my trunk groups were 10 and 37. Then using CM360 found that 3737 had not been enabled. The commands looked like this:

CM360>1010>0-
CM360>1037>0-
CM360>3710>0-
CM360>3737>1-0

Thank you very much for your help.
