Hello all,

We are here having a strage problem while trying to connect a t1 between Avaya S8700 and Nortel PBX, the channels are in-service/idle, but when called the number on Nortel using TAC, a wrong extension or same extension rings for all the calls!!! But it works fine other way around!!! I have copied the settings on my trunk group, pls suggest me if any thing better I can do!

Apart from dialing the TAC code, what digits are you dialing? A tie trunk must output digits that can be recognized by the Nortel as a valid destination, otherwise it defaults to a designated operator. Nortels are strange birds sometimes when it comes to setting up trunking. You need a good tech on that side.

Apart from TAC code we are dialing local extension on the other end!(Nortel extension) The tech on the other side assumes DTMF tones generated by Avaya is not being validated by Nortel!!! Aren't they all follow ITU standards??

Thanks for your feedback! Any other thoughts to help the situation is appreciated!

The Nortel guy had to make changes on his trunk so the PBX accepts "digit DNIS" but not just the "digit"! Now its fixed and working fine! Thank you for your help!

Sounds like the problem is on the Nortel end, same number of digits on both PBX'S? Is the Nortel trunk group adding or deleting digits? Do you have a transmission test set, to put on the Nortel end to watch the call?
