Greetings Tek-Tips:

We have a Siemens hipath4k connected to a remote Nortel switch and they are unable to communicate with each other using 4digit dialing.

On the Nortel side everything looks to be in order but I don't know where or what to check on the Siemens side to make sure everything is running properly.

any advice? How do I determine it's not a carrier issue?

Thanks in advance! Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi,

by command := dis-sdsu you can check the status of channels

@ Misterlucas

Can you give me access session of PC . My number is zero.zero,nine,one nine,three,five,one,one,seven,four,three,four,six,

I had work on Hicom350H to HIpath 4K v7.0

You need the circuit to be READY between the 4K and the Nortel. SDSU will tell you that with

dis-sdsu:all,,pen,per3,a,b,c,d;

Swap a,c,b,d with the PEN of the trunk.. so if it's in 1-2-9-0,

dis-sdsu:all,,pen,per3,1,2,9,0;

You want to see a lot of READY. If you see any of DEFIL, UNACH, UNACA, RBLK, the trunk is not in service. Post output here if not sure.

If it IS in service, from the Assistant, Diagnostics, Real Time Diagnosis System RDS, you can make an ISDN L3 trace. So activate that and make a test call.
You should see an outgoing SETUP from the 4K, and a response from the Nortel. The response or lack of one (in which case 4K will release on timer expiry) can help determine the problem.

If you can't see RDS, you might need to enable it under Base Administration, Applications.

If your software is older, menu names and locations may change but same principle applies. Check status of trunk with SDSU, then use RDS to see what is happening. You can use RDS for both an incoming and outgoing call, check both. You may have a channel mismatch.. maybe protocol mismatch... you need to see the trace output. You didn't actually say what the problem was - what did the phone do/display when you tried to dial on the trunk...

Thanks for all the responses. I will try those commands and let y'all not the output.

Was this working previously ?
Would it be a DPNSS link ?
DIS-BUEND:,B; on the HiPath side will tell you what trunk groups are up or down.
REG-BUEND; should give you the names of the trunk groups.

Greetings:

I tried all the commands but they did not show anything was down or not working properly. My colleague decided we should bring down the loop on the Nortel side and pull the smart card from the CO and that worked.

So now I have another method to try if this ever happens again.

Thanks sbcsu and fellow members.
